Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Nadelson.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I founded THE IV DOC in 2013. It was during my last year of General Surgery training when I had the idea for THE IV DOC. I was serving as the Chief Resident in a busy trauma hospital in the Bronx, and just prior to starting a surgical case a bout of food poisoning took over.
I recalled eating a microwavable dinner just prior to starting my shift and vividly recalled that it did not have a plastic wrapping. I alerted my attending physician to assist me for the case, and a very kind nurse set me up with two IV bags of fluid, and my attending physician ordered Zofran for me.
I went from a 2 (out of 10) to a functioning surgeon again. I knew right then and there that I could help people who suffered from any gastrointestinal illness like this and make it available in the comfort and privacy of their home.
So the next day, I set up a website, polled all my friends about pricing, and set up odd late night hours to provide my service (when I would be available). A few weeks later, the press picked up on what I was doing, and I had appointments every day. I hired my first nurse in the winter of 2014 and opened my second service location in the Hamptons that same year.
The IV DOC now provides service in 25 cities across the country, and we are spreading throughout the United Kingdom.
Please tell us about your art.
