Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Sieracki.
Alan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I moved to Texas in 1994 after serving two tours in the U.S Navy. It was a little scary. I was new to the area, didn’t know anyone, and wasn’t sure what I was going to do for the rest of my life. I met a neighbor of mine and he said something to me that I have always remembered. He said, Alan, learn a trade and you will never go hungry. That sounded pretty good to me so that’s what I did. I decided to learn and become a plumber. I did plumbing for several years, it was hard work, I was always learning, and I enjoyed working outside so life post military was pretty good.
After the birth of my daughter I decided to leave plumbing and move into more of the residential construction side of things. I started learning how to build homes. With being a plumber for new homes all these years it was a fairly easy transition and was just focusing on learning as much as I could about houses. I was so fascinated with being a part of building something from the ground up. I soon realized that I was building more than just houses, I realized that I was also building dreams, the American dream. I was hooked, I realized I would build houses for the rest of my life. The feeling I got when I handed over the keys to a first time home buyer and watching their faces and the faces of their families gave me such a feeling of satisfaction and pride. It was the same pride I had when I was serving in the military. From that point the rest is history. I spent the next 17 years learning, and mastering the craft of home building.
I learned along the way it wasn’t just about building a house. It was also about the building experience for the buyer. This was as they say the biggest investment of their lives and although it was an exciting time it was also very stressful time. You have to drive all around town to find which neighborhood you want to live in, you have to sit and talk with multiple sales people, you have to credit qualify, and then deal with the lenders. Everything has to line up just right in order to fulfill the dream of owning a home. So yeah it’s a little stressful, so it was my mission to make the construction phase of this dream the most fun I could make it for the family. It was my opportunity to show the families that all their hard work was paying off. And that is it, for me it is all about the experience.
After 17 years I noticed a change in the business. I noticed the big name home builders wasn’t so concerned with the buyers experience and their overall satisfaction as they use too be. As I was considered an old timer in the business I noticed the old builders were being replaced by younger, and cheaper Construction managers. As technology advanced and computers became more of a tool than a tape measure I realized that in fact the construction managers were now being replaced with construction schedulers. It became harder and harder to focus on the buyer in the new age of building homes. And so here we are today. I knew the only way to stay true to what I believed to be a great buying experience is to start my own company. Thus ‘ Ground Up Inspection Service’. I have made it my mission to stand by and advocate for the buyer and assist them get the home they deserve and paid for and have the best experience possible.
Has it been a smooth road?
No it wasn’t always easy. As a single Dad trying to raise a daughter and continue to grow professionally was sometimes a bit over whelming. I just kept looking forward and always believed that hard work would pay off.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ground Up Inspection Services – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company is based on stories. Stories of every family that dreams of owning a home.
I perform home inspections of all homes new and resale. I also perform new residential construction consulting. I offer to represent and advise home buyers when dealing with big home builders. An easy way to say it is, that I am your very own private builder. It can be scary dealing with the big builders not knowing what everything means and who to trust. My sole mission is to look out for the buyer.
I am known for my new construction knowledge. I am very knowledgeable in all aspects of construction and building codes and most importantly I am very knowledgeable in how these big builders work.
I am proud of my company for staying true to the things that made me successful in building. It’s all about being a part of someone’s dream. If I can help a family have a great experience while seeking that American dream of home ownership I’ll be happy with that.
I believe I am different from similar companies because of my extensive experience in the industry and even more than that I believe I stand out because of my passion and compassion for the customer (home buyer).
