Today we’d like to introduce you to Alana Cook.
Hi Alana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
As a little girl, I dreamed of becoming a businesswoman like Diann Carroll and Joan Collins. It was at the age of 10, that I was sitting at the kitchen table with my MaDear and Mom when I remember one of them saying, ‘you can be a part of the problem or help create a solution.’ That phrase has been my motivation throughout my journey.
I grew up to pursue and excel in my career while working in various arenas yet feeling like there was much more that I was called to do. I started developing my company at night while working my other job during the day. Once I began generating a healthy income from my business, I took a leap of faith and committed to my business full-time.
ProMed Medical Solutions began as flexible solutions for physicians and other offices that struggled to find streamlined processes in their revenue cycle management and short-term staffing issues. Our home health staffing demands began to grow, which created an opportunity to provide solutions to clients who were experiencing emotional strains developed during the pandemic. We created a new division of the company, 5 Star Body Bar, to address the mental, emotional, and physical concerns from a holistic approach.
Marriage, children, divorce, deaths, and life interruptions presented some delays and threatened the business’ existence; however, the conversation between my late Mom and Grandmother continues to ring in my heart. I have adjusted, acquired resources, and pivoted.
Our services: Revenue Cycle Management, Staffing, Home Health, Body Essentials, and Wellness Center.
The journey has been riddled with many challenges, but I always find ways to create solutions with 5-star results.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely NOT smooth at all. I experienced divorce, emotional trauma, and financial hardships. To build one dream meant that I had to sacrifice in other areas that I wasn’t aware of. Learning to balance family life, not having adequate resources, and recovering from unexpected detours was very challenging.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Develop thick skin, find a great mentor, establish a business plan, make sure that your business has the proper structure, maintain good credit, establish business credit, and learn how to pivot.
