Alex, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My wife and I moved to Friendswood in 2020 and immediately fell in love with the close-knit community. As we looked for ways to get more involved, we decided to offer a service that would benefit both businesses and homeowners while helping them reduce costs and stress for an essential item. This led to the creation of Mustang Air.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting any new venture is rarely a smooth journey, at least not for long. From the beginning, we’ve embraced a mindset of “failing fast and winning slow.” In other words, we aim to make mistakes quickly, learn from them, and then focus on continuous improvement. Thankfully, that’s exactly what we’ve done. We swiftly addressed challenges with suppliers, inventory, and scheduling, all while gaining valuable insights into marketing and sales. Though it’s been a process of trial and error as we refine our approach, we’re confident in the high-quality product/service we offer, which fuels our ongoing learning and growth. What we’ve enjoyed most is the opportunity to connect with so many local business owners and managers. We’re excited about the growth potential and the valuable relationships we’re building.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The Covid-19 crisis was challenging for many, and while our family was fortunate to stay healthy, one aspect that stood out to me was the negative impact limited interactions had on us and our children. At the time, it wasn’t obvious, but once some restrictions were lifted, we quickly realized how much we had missed over the past couple of years. The relationships we’ve built at church, work, and within our community are invaluable to us, and they continue to motivate us as we grow our business.
