Hi Alexandria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
You will always fail right before you win! Hey, I’m Alex, a 22yr old Houston hairstylist. I always get asked how I started doing hair I felt as if I took an unknown risk. I fell on hard times and had just got fired! At that time I had one client that would come weekly to come to get her hair done at my mom’s house in the restroom. I called myself scrolling on Instagram one day and came across @beyondthemirror page! I accidentally booked her 1on1 class. After that point I didn’t want to cancel due to me being embarrassed it was an accident! So I took the leap of faith with my last $100 in my pocket and have not been broke since that day! I have a growing clientele and have been blossoming since!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say smooth but all good things come with obstacles that yuh have to overcome! As I am growing as a young woman, I’m learning it’s important to be more attentive to my wants and needs and the ultimate goals that I have for myself! You will always take many losses before you win. Nothing comes overnight. We appreciate things more when we actually work for them. Success Is not overnight!

The superior brand est 19! This was a brand that came from nothing! This is a brand that runs on morals and structure. We are expanding but yet still learning! We specialize in wigs and hair extensions! I care for each one of my clients like I would be the one getting service!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Networking has always worked for me. For anyone, if you are running a business, you are a walking build board! I think it’s important that you always go into a room a speak. You never know who’s who! Some small conversations go far!
