Meet Allison Craig of Lentille Photography in Rosenberg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Craig.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Allison. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story starts as many does, and its a tiny bit cliché. I purchased a camera once I had my first child, and started taking pictures of him. I quickly realized how fast they change, and that was my only way to preserve what I was so afraid of forgetting. Let me tell you-I was horrible! As in, really bad. But, I had friends who asked me to take pictures of their kiddos, too, and suddenly I received a phone call from a stranger, asking to schedule a portrait session. Surely that meant I should be a business, right? I am a rule follower, so I quickly filed the proper papers and applied for my licenses, and Lentille Photography was born.

I photographed a bit of everything when I started off, attempting to figure out what I loved most. I had a desire to be better, so I worked hard to grow. This eventually brought me to a crossroads, where I had to choose my nursing career as a labor & delivery nurse, or quit and focus only on photography. I chose the latter, decided to specialize in maternity, newborns, and families, and opened my cozy studio just outside of Houston.

I had a deep desire to provide a high-end experience to my clients. The responsibility of portraits always falls on the mamas’ shoulders, creating a day of stress and the inability to fully relax and enjoy the process. For that reason, I provide a Studio Wardrobe for the entire family. This not only saves my clients money, but also shopping trips, return trips, bringing kids to the mall…you know how it goes!

I also partnered with an amazing hair and makeup artist over a year ago, and she provides services to my clients. She travels to their home or my studio, and gets them camera-ready. Her style is cohesive with mine, creating a look that meshes seamlessly in portraits. Clients love this, because they can arrive at my studio with top knot and yoga pants, and we do the rest.

Finally, I truly believe that the portraits we create together deserve to be printed. Whether in an album or as framed fine art prints, my clients have access to the absolute best heirloom products available. I meet each client in-studio, after their session, allowing them to sift through their printed proofs and choose what meets their needs.

So today, years later, I have found a happy place. I am so glad I took that leap of faith and decided to focus on my business, and truly love what I do.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t! Owning and running your own business is a whole lot of trial-and-error. There is no one to answer to but yourself, and if you don’t do it, it doesn’t get done. There is SO much that goes on behind-the-scenes, and that’s where the endless hours of work, poured into my business, and truly pays off. It is a daily struggle to balance work and life and succeed at both, and I’m still figuring out how to not spread myself thin.

I also believe that taking calculated risks and focusing on myself, and not what others are doing, has helped me channel my energy into finding who I am as an artist. That has helped me grow the fastest.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lentille Photography – what should we know?
My company, Lentille Photography, is nestled in historic downtown Rosenberg. Inside a quaint bungalow is my studio that holds a Client Wardrobe, my hair and makeup artist, and the highest quality albums, prints, and frames available. I specialize and focus on maternity, newborn, and family portraits; though motherhood, and families, make my heart sing.

I am known for my clean, airy processing, cohesive branding from start-to-finish, and providing a high-end experience to my clients. They have quickly realized that the investment is worth it, and I love that their homes hold portraits from our time together. It is truly an honor!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Hustle, hard work, and dedication. Nothing has been handed to me, and now I know that if it had been, it wouldn’t have led to my success. I have worked hard to reach my goals, and that’s the only way I have found success.

Pricing:

  • My session fee is $300 and includes: wardrobe for the entire family, a minimum of 25 hand-edited images delivered as printed proofs, and an in-studio ordering appointment.
  • While most clients choose a larger collection ($1500+), there is no minimum investment.
