Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Denise.
Allison, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Broke, busted, and disgusted. It sounds cliché but that is exactly where I was when I decided to call out to God for more of Him. March of 2015 found me on bedrest fighting preeclampsia two months before my third child was due for delivery. Three days after her birth at 27 weeks, I would be terminated from the job I had been working crazy overtime hours for during the past few months. And get this…they didn’t even bother to tell me and they refused to answer my calls and emails. I only found out because I asked the insurance company questions about my policy. Can you say angry? Because I was. Under that anger, though, I was hurt. I felt thrown away like trash; cast down. Have you ever felt discarded? If you have, then you know it doesn’t feel good and you know exactly how I felt.
In between visits to my baby girl in the neonatal intensive care unit every day for six weeks, I had a lot of quiet time to think. I asked God why He would bless me with the highest paying job I ever had only to strip it away from me through no fault of my own? Why would He let me get to the mountaintop, show me the promise land, then tell me it was not mine to possess? And God, what am I supposed to do now? I have rent, a new car note, and three mouths to feed. I said, God, how can I take control of my destiny?
“Well”, God said, “do you trust me?”
I said, “of course Lord.”
And He said, “you have over 18 years of experience in accounting and you have over ten years of experience in graphic design. Let your gifts make room for you.”
After this, I branded myself as The Creative Accountant which left my audience a little confused. So I eventually realized I love creative work more than finance and I chose aside. Four years and I have become a 5x Best Selling Author on Amazon, an International Speaker, and an Award-Winning Graphic Designer. I am now fusing my love for God and my love for creativity into one beautiful brand. I am looking forward to hosting my first conference in Summer 2020 and officially adding children’s book publishing to my line of services.
Has it been a smooth road?
Most of my struggle has been breaking the chains of old limiting thought patterns and beliefs. Feeling not good enough. Not educated enough (I’m a self-taught designer). Not social enough because I’m an introvert. I have experienced a lack of family support because they couldn’t see my vision, nightmare clients and friendship betrayal.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Brand It Beautifully story. Tell us more about the business.
I help women authors & influencers design and launch profitable books and brands to monetize their message, express the power in their voice, and see the beauty in their story. I specialize in and I am known for beautiful book design & publishing and speaker & author brand development. As a company, I am most proud of the fact that my clients positively transform lives and I get to be a part of that process of making the world a healthier place. What sets me apart is non-design school, outside of the box thinking, my heart to bring each project’s personality to life, and my God-centered approach. Every job I do is Spirit-led.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the design industry becoming more end-user friendly making it easy for clients to create their own professional designs with things like Canva.com and others. End-user Empowerment if you will.
