

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Davis and Regine Murray.
Hi Alyssa and Regine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Picture Perfect Photo Booth Rentals LLC is built on ten years of friendship and sisterhood. My best friend and business partner, Regine Murray and I have done everything together since the 8th grade. We are both very social and although we work hard, we love to have a great time. We were thinking of ways we can enter into entrepreneurship but we didn’t want to just do anything. Once we discussed the idea of starting a photo booth business, we immediately became excited, it’s like it was meant for us. The ideas started flowing and we got right to business!
Entering the event industry seemed like the perfect idea. We had fears of starting a photo booth company in the middle of a pandemic of course, being that we thrive off of events, but we have been extremely blessed with an overflow of clients and support and we’ve been able to keep everyone and ourselves safe. At the moment, we are still in the process of introducing ourselves to Houston. We will be purchasing a new booth soon and plan to expand to some areas outside of Houston for a larger market. Picture Perfect’s primary goal is to help future clients capture and save their best moments with family, friends and colleagues. Picture Perfect takes pride in providing prompt communication, easy access to your photos and a great experience for you and your guests. We really like to customize every client’s experience to meet their event needs and budget. We are really excited to see what the future holds.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Regine and I have came across many challenges along the way but we have managed to overcome them each time. When we first started, we had no idea how to get clients. We had family and friends reposting and sharing but in the first week or so, we didn’t have a single booking. We attempted to pay third-party sites to try and help us out but that didn’t work either. We had to get creative in our approach and really brand ourselves. We post about our business every single day now. It’s important in the growth stages. Our average number of bookings have increased and we’ve now booked clients months in advance. Additionally, neither of us knew how to work a photo booth, create overlays, set-up backdrops. I remember the first day all of our equipment arrived and we set everything up, we were sitting in my apartment with Youtube videos, instruction manuals and a lot of confusion. We had the client relationship experience based on our career backgrounds but the physical labor was a different story. We have learned so much about our booth and ourselves. Now, we truly enjoy the entire process from set-up to breakdown. However, we are still ready to hire someone, so be on the lookout for that, Houston!
As you know, we’re big fans of Picture Perfect Photo Booth Rentals. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We own and operate a digital photo booth company with several package options. We have a virtual package which gives our clients a fully online, COVID-19 friendly photo booth experience. We offer our physical photo booth that can capture and print photos as well as record boomerangs, videos and gifs that are shared directly to your phone and can be instantly uploaded to social media. Lastly, we have our Kardashian-inspired booth. Anyone who follows the Kardashians will know that they almost never have a party without their glamorous black and white photo booth pictures. Our booth has the software to create this same experience for our clients at an affordable price. Our glam feature smooths the skin and blemishes and creates the perfect photo finish. Lastly, this package is paired with our black and white photo filter and white marble backdrop.
At the moment, we only offer tension backdrops but they really enhance the finished look. Our booth’s design is very sleek and compatible with all event decor, the event set-up is minimal but still very effective so that our set-up doesn’t heavily impact the client’s decor. We have so much more in-store but I won’t go into too much detail yet! We are known for our client experience and ability to fully customize the photo booth for their event. Everything we do is custom from the online gallery to the photo overlay and “Tap to Start” screen. All we need is the client’s inspiration and the rest is taken care of. We never re-use an overlay so your photos will always be specially crafted for your event. We are also well known for our software, many photo booths can only take pictures, our capture options are limitless. We always say, “Boomerang it, or it didn’t happen!” Lastly, Regine and I really care. We want people to be happy with their experience and we want them to have fun. Although both of us are full-time graduate students with full-time careers, we do not rush the client experience. We are so appreciative of everyone who books with us. Each time we celebrate amongst each other and immediately get to work to pull off the perfect event. We love what we do and we put our clients first, that is what sets us apart from anyone else you could book with. I am most proud of our responsiveness, our creativity, our booth’s print and image quality and I am proud of us. We are only 24 years old and we have accomplished so much, Our brand is a reflection of who we are as women, professional, organized and successful.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Absolutely! This entire experience was a risk. As we did our research, we saw that many photo booth companies have gone out of business during the pandemic while we are just getting started. We take COVID very seriously and make sure that our equipment is clean and safe after each use. This investment, was not cheap. I think any business venture is a risk. We said jokingly to each other, “If this fails, at least we have a photo booth”! Although we laughed each time, it was a true fear.
We were making an investment into the event industry during the pandemic when almost no one was having parties or weddings. However, we did it anyway and we are both so glad that we did! I think that taking a risk is always better than not taking one. You have to think about what your life would look like if you decided not to do this 6-months down the line. If it would be the exact same, you need to take a chance because growth is everything. If Regine and I said we would wait until the pandemic is over, we would have missed out on the 15+ clients we have had in only 90 days of business and what good would that do. Our goal is to be booming when this pandemic is over. We need our name and expertise to be out there so that we can do what we do best!
