Meet Amanda Hale of The Pearland Moms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Hale.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been married to my husband Steven for over ten years and we have two children, Carter four and Harper 2 1/2. I’m originally from Lufkin, a small town in East Texas. I’ve been living in the big city of Houston for over 17 years. I graduated from University of Houston and went on to earn my MBA from University of St. Thomas in the Montrose area. My husband Steven and I met while both living at Humble Tower apartments in Downtown Houston over 13 years ago. We loved being inner-loopers! We moved to Pearland four years ago after opening a yoga studio in Pearland and having our first child. It was much easier living close to our studio with an infant and we loved the idea of being in a smaller community outside the city. After selling my yoga studio, I wanted to do something different and fun and that kept me connected to my community. I launched The Pearland Moms in early summer and my website, www.ThePearlandMoms.com on August 30th.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Let me be honest, I’m not a blogger or “influencer”. Creating something new that I’m not fully educated on is a huge challenge. I saw an opportunity to offer something new and fun to the Pearland community that we didn’t have and jumped on it! I’ve had to learn the technical back end of creating a website and understand the crazy algorithm of Facebook and Instagram, and I’m still learning every day. In the beginning, I didn’t know if I’d ever fully understood it all but I kept asking questions, experimenting and learning from my mistakes until it all started making sense. Yes, I was scared of being in over my head, especially with two toddlers to care for, but getting out of your comfit zone is scary, and growth and success doesn’t come easy. It takes a lot of persistence and strength to create a new business. Thankfully I’ve had a great support system with my family and friends. My local Mom friends have been my biggest cheerleaders and I can’t thank them enough!

The Pearland Moms – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Pearland Moms is part of a national mom community called the Local Moms Network. Our mission is giving moms the gift of time by providing comprehensive collections of local resources for local moms and dads. Our goal is increasing community awareness with events, offering a media outlet for positive impacts for both small and large businesses, providing parents access to a comprehensive local calendar, featuring outstanding Moms in the community in the form of Meet-A-Moms, insightful and educational blog articles, giveaways, discounts and much more! Nationally, the Local Moms Network has over 2.5 million unique Instagram followers and growing! The Pearland community has been so supportive in the launch and growth of The Pearland Moms. I’ve met so many new “Mom friends” who are so talented and kind. I’m so excited to see our community grow!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’ve had so many proud moments in my career and it’s hard to distinguish just one. Realizing and proving that I can create a fun, informative and profitable business and still having time for my family is probably my proudest! Many women struggle with balancing work and family, and a lot of those Moms have to choose one or the other. I’m proud that I’ve been able to factor in both in a healthy way. Find something you enjoy, seek out advice from others doing the same thing and stay persistent in your dreams and goals!
