Meet Amari Jackson of Growing Boundlessly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amari Jackson

Hi Amari, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Growing Boundlessly during my graduate Studies at Northeastern Illinois University. At this time, I was approaching graduation and went through a breakup with my partner of just shy of two years. I was devastated. Through my own personal journey to heal, I started sharing books, quotes, and my experience of growth. Growing Boundlessly was a collective journey to heal myself and to cultivate self-healing in others. The name growing boundlessly essentially means to grow without limits through your circumstances. Upon graduation, I began my career as a therapist and once able to practice independently, I legally founded Growing Boundlessly as a mental wellness practice.

In my journey as a business owner, I have had many wins and losses. Shifting the narrative surrounding mental health has been challenging and having support, funding, and resources to stay afloat has been challenging.
A significant part of growing boundlessly’s branding is the lotus flower. The lotus flower is a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. Lotus flowers emerge through mud and are the perfect representation of the ability of something beautiful to emerge from the most unsavory circumstances.

Growing Boundlessly recently moved its headquarters to The Historic Bronzeville Neighborhood of Chicago. We expanded to Houston in January as we wanted to take our wellness offerings global !

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been very very rocky. Our biggest challenge has been funding and the culture of therapy shifting and changing. We have had very many highs and also some lows. I think people see the successes online and forget I have moments of challenges. Sometimes receiving mentorship, support, and community has also been challenging. In addition, tech companies invested in therapy and have created a cash cow in offering therapists more than small businesses can. It can undermine the work that we are doing. We are looking to add services and pivot.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Growing Boundlessly?
Growing Boundlessly is a holistic wellness collective dedicated to providing a variety of mental wellness services to individuals, couples, families, and the community at large to promote healing, cultural awareness, and spiritual exploration specifically for the BIPOC community. Our goal is to help our clients, staff, and community cultivate and grow into a BOUNDLESS life, by providing support as we journey through healing with therapeutic practices, self-care management, and wellness offerings.

When I think about the culture of our practice, I am reminded of our core values of compassion, empathy, transparency, support, and integrity. Growing Boundlessly is a unique collective of wellness practitioners with the shared goal of impacting the mental wellness of people of color and shifting the narrative of what it means to “have to work”. Our internal slogans are “we are professional but not formal”. While we are a business and have services to offer, we are also an incubator for emerging therapists and professionals to hone their skills and develop personally and professionally.

Our current service offerings are individual, couples, and group therapy, career coaching, yoga classes, meditation groups. We plan to continue adding service offerings that will assist in the healing and growth of the community at large. We also act as an internship site placement for emerging therapists in their last year of graduate studies with clinical supervision and support towards clinical licensure. Our goal is for everyone who encounters Growing Boundlessly to leave better than they came. We pride ourselves on upholding our core values and providing a boutique experience to every client.
