Today we’d like to introduce you to Amari Petty.
Hi Amari, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am originally from Chicago, Illinois. Born and raised! Moved to Houston, TX, when I was 17 years old. It was a huge life-altering moment, but I’m thankful for all the new experiences. Moving halfway across the country when you were only used to one city can be challenging, was challenging for me. Having not the best childhood, I was excited to have a fresh start in a new environment. Houston my not have been my first choice but it is a great place to live, meet new people, and have amazing new experiences!
Being in Houston, surrounded by so many successful businesses and entrepreneurs, made me realize that I should take the necessary steps to start my business, Designer Threadz. I am really excited to see how my business flourishes once it’s officially launched.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it’s has not been a smooth road at all. But that’s never a reason to give up! I’ve experienced some hardships in life, familial issues, and struggles, but I didn’t/don’t let those things from my past deter me from doing what I need to do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Earlier this year, I got started with my clothing brand, Designer Threadz, because ever since I could remember, I’ve always had a strong passion towards fashion design & styling outfits/pieces. I have always been very interested in fashion design, so I thought, “Why not start that business?” And I did just that!
Now, I will be creating trendy clothes with my luxury Streetwear/loungewear brand. Launching September 2023!
I’m proud of my brand because it’ll really showcase one of my multiple talents. I cannot wait for the world to see what I have to offer!
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I live by risk-taking! As long as it’s a good, positive, and beneficial risk, of course!
I am definitely a risk-taker! I strive to be better in life no matter what! I think sometimes taking risks help show you that you can handle anything that comes your way. It’s like always having a plan A, B, C & D! I took a risk starting my business, but I’m happier every day that I did. I take risks that will secure my future, and I recommend anyone to do the same! Taking risks are chances to get you one step closer to the life you’ve always wanted!
