Meet Laura A. Jimenez of Amegy Bank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura A. Jimenez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been living in Missouri City for 22 years. When I arrived home in December 31, 1996, I started working at Randall’s, where I worked for 10 years. In May of 2006, I was approached and offered a job by a manager at Wells Fargo. I told her that at that moment I was not looking for a job but thanked her for the offer. But it did spark my attention, so I started considering a career in banking.

In August, I applied to Hibernia Bank (Capital One) as a teller. 10 months later I was promoted to the banker. My manager at the time then moved to Amegy Bank, and he called me and offered me a chance to work for a great bank. So, on May 14, 2007, I made the decision to be a part of Amegy Bank.

I started as a teller/banker at Amegy’s Holcombe location and was there for six years. In those years, I was a lead teller and learned a lot about operations. In June 2013, I moved to Amegy’s Missouri City location to be closer to my family. My son was playing football, and since he’s an only child I wanted to attend all his football games. On May 15, 2016, I got promoted to my current position as associate banking center manager (ABCM).

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but with the support of my husband, son, family, mentors and managers, I have made it. I plan on growing with Amegy Bank and am excited to see what my next project will be. Working for a great company like Amegy Bank has made me strong and made me realize that if you put your mind to it anything is possible.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
For more than 26 years, Amegy Bank has committed to doing the right thing for clients. Amegy Bank believes in relationship banking, where clients know their bankers’ names and bankers know their clients’. With more than 75 banking locations in Texas, we live and work here and understand our communities’ needs.

We specialize in banking privately owned business of all sizes and public companies in all industries with additional expertise in real estate, energy and correspondent banking. We are not only a leader in banking but also a leader in caring. We consistently provide our time, money and energy to strengthen the communities we serve in Texas.

An undeniable part of Amegy’s culture is our commitment to our local communities. In addition to the financial support we give, our employees donate thousands of hours each year to help the schools and nonprofit organizations in our neighborhoods. It’s part of what makes Amegy a great place to work and a great place to bank: we give back and we make a difference.

Most banks offer organized volunteer opportunities, but Amegy goes a step further by offering a different employee benefit – Amegy Cares. This is a bank-wide initiative that allows employees to volunteer 8 hours of paid volunteer time per quarter for full-time employees and 4 hours per quarter for part-time employees during business hours without having to use vacation time. One of my photos is of me at an Amegy Cares event for JDRF.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
