Meet Amir Moussat of Counter Core Customs in New Territory

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amir Moussat.

Amir, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It started when I had a 2000 Mustang that was all red. I would always see custom made or bada** stripes on other cars and wondered “hey I want that”. So one day i just started messaging people who did this thing called “Spray wrap” and man it was way more expensive then I could afford at the time! So I said —- it! I’ll do it myself! Giving it a shot, I realized I was quite skilled at this “Spray Wrap” over wrapping so many parts on the car. When I got a motorcycle, I made it matte black the day I got it! I easily started posting ads and charging for it. At a certain point, all I was doing was wheels making them matte black where you can peel it off whenever you want, started doing trims, etc. I had got to the point where I asked myself, “hey, let us grow this and make a brand!’ So that’s when it started. My very own Counter Core Customs since I liked the name. Eventually, I saved up enough to get my own storage unit and start spray wrapping whole vehicles. I made an Instagram, which grew to over 1000 followers! Now to some, its nothing, but me, it is a fantastic achievement. Now I’m currently in a bigger storage facility where I do all types of vehicles and vendors at car meets in the local Houston area. All I want to do is continue to grow from here! I recently just started a free photographer page because I always wanted to get into it for a hobby, so let’s see how this goes.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never been a smooth road. I wish it really was at times, but then I look back and realize that those were actually learning processes. The problem with trying to do your own thing is friends with either wants stuff for free or won’t ever support you, not money-wise, but emotionally wise. Some will betray you and call you many names for not giving them services for free or even money at times. Also, there are points where I have don’t a whole car in spray wrap, and it’ll mess up within days. This is usually due to weather issues, but still, we’ll have to remove the thing and redo the whole process. This can lead to no profits and, in some cases losing money. One of the main pushes for me or obstacles is when I was moving locations, I was going to get a bigger unit facility twice as big as what I had and double the cost, so I was coming together with another company doing same-like work. The brands were going to combine, and I would have finally had true help. The thing is I had already packed and ended my lease from the old unit, and there was no turning back for me. My other brand keeps telling me its all good to go. Come to the day of arrival. I was told they were backing out of the deal, the day of! This put me in anger and help me realize if you want more significant, more, or increase in your life. You have to do it yourself and remember you control your life, so I got the bigger unit all myself. Even though it was more, and I was not ready, it help me become ready and push harder! So Friends n others may be a challenge, but as long as you, yourself, don’t stop you’ll push through.

Please tell us about your business.
My business is pretty simple, We do custom work, and we are willing to try new things. If its something new we’ll give it a shot. My business works on Spray wraps. Small restorations lets say on headlights, taillights or certain small paint spots, vinyl wraps for whole cars or just parts if anyone wanted, we vendor at car meets because I still love cars! The number thing that sets us from other businesses and it does make me lose customers is we are honest. We don’t go around lying promising people things that aren’t true, or we cant provide. We tell it as it is. That’s why I’m proud of this business, yes it is not as big as others but we don’t need to lie in order t make our money. We keep it real and try to have fun.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moments for me were when I got the new storage facility, when I got my dream car and that I don’t need a job to support me, I have this. It lets me learn new skills, have family time, and do what I need to do. Now some people may want a Ferrari, Bentley, or some other $200,000 car. Not me, I just wanted a cool 350z like from the movie fast and furious!
