Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Olivieri.
Amy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m an executive, entrepreneur, public speaker, digital technology expert, and life enthusiast! I have a passion for helping organizations and small businesses succeed by showing them how to nurture their relationships to create long-term customers and partners. I am a proven leader in the SaaS industry with considerable experience in professional services marketing and have helped hundreds of businesses, non-profits and organizations make better decisions by leveraging best practices across general marketing principles, strategies, and online technologies.
As a seasoned keynote speaker, I have presented to more than 40,000 seminar and conference attendees for Microsoft; Centers for Entrepreneurship; SCORE; Small Business Development Centers; Powerful Women International; Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance; Chambers of Commerce; and many more. I grew up in NW Houston and attended Klein High School. I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with a B.S. in Psychology and from LeTourneau University with an MBA.
I was raised by a single working mother who is now a retired registered nurse. From as early as I can remember, I knew that if I wanted to be successful in life that I needed to get an education. I’ve always had an entrepreneur spirit and have owned several small businesses, while also pursuing my professional career. Owning those businesses taught me the ins-and-outs of running a business and most importantly – that your customers are your business lifeline. That it’s not enough to have a great product or service, but you also need to understand the customer and always strive for a positive customer experience.
I also have great respect in “the experience” of life and believe that a person cannot get very far without having success and failures along the way. You need to laugh and cry. Travel and get lost. Eat, drink, and try everything! Then somewhere along the way, you will find that every person has a mission. My career has always been to figure out what that person’s mission is and help them get a little closer to their goal.
After many years helping others succeed, I am now working on my new tech start-up TakeAClass. My background in entrepreneurship, marketing, sales, and educating small business owners to succeed is the perfect backdrop for this next phase of my life. While at Constant Contact, I successfully lead a team of 40+ partners across 4 states (TX, LA, NM, and MS) while consistently outperforming other regions in sales across the U.S. for almost 8 years.

TakeAClass® seeks to revolutionize educational options for children and adults by providing access to local and online classes to anyone in the world.
TakeAClass® will deliver a high-performance, easy-to-use website directory and mobile App to millions of consumers seeking classes and provide global access to education while removing the barriers to pay for it by introducing the ClassCoin® (CCO), a new cryptocurrency that will change the way payments are accepted for academic institutions.
Has it been a smooth road?
As an African-American woman who started my career in corporate law firms and then moved into the tech industry, it’s definitely been challenging at times to get the respect that I deserved from my male counterparts. However, I’ve never backed away from a challenge and at the end of the day believe that my professionalism, work ethic, and ability to get generate above average results has earned me the respect from my male peers.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The city of Houston is a great place to launch a business. As a native Houstonian, I have spent my entire life in this great city. There are so many opportunities for success in Houston if you are willing to do the work. The resources available to small businesses and organizations to succeed are limitless.
There are hundreds of business networking groups, Chambers of Commerce, United Way Chapters, SCORE, and Entrepreneur Centers available all over the city with resources that provide financial assistance, tech training, coaching, supplies, manufacturing, etc.
