Meet Andrea Elliott of Bold Body Fitness in Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Elliott.

Andrea, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In December 2014 I was diagnosed with Lupus, battling an under active thyroid (Hypothyroidism) and weighed 234 lbs. I was 28 years old mother of two and saw my life slipping before me. This diagnosis was the turning point for me and I lost 93 lbs. over the next few years. My weight loss turned into a passion for helping others become healthier versions of themselves.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My weight loss journey has been anything but linear which was frustrating going through it but has allowed me to relate more to clients during their journey. I gained 30 lbs. two years in a row. In 2016 I decided to “bulk” to add muscle mass however I battled with food. My eating was out of control and I spent the rest of the year losing the weight I gained. In 2017 I suffered from Planatar Fasciitis and could barely walk. I tried my best to workout however I gained 30 lbs. It took 6 months for my foot to heal and 6 more months for me to lose the weight.

In 2018 I went through a divorce and the gym became my refuge and therapy more than ever. In 2019 I was laid off from my full-time job and decided to pursue my passion for helping people become healthier and fitter versions of themselves.

Please tell u about the business.
Bold Body Fitness was created in 2019 by myself and my business partner, Lea Estrada who has also had a significant weight loss. We specialize in weight training, HIIT and nutritional coaching. What sets Bold Body apart from other gyms is that both Lea and I have been in our client’s shoes when it comes to weight loss, therefore who better to help them reach their goal?

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I feel successful if I made an impact on someone’s life. One example would be if a member applies something they learned in class (meal prep tip) to their life, the effects are endless. They’re likely to tell their coworkers, who then may also practice the tip. The member will meal prep at home with her family, so now her family is eating healthier. As a result, the member unknowingly has lowered her cholesterol, blood sugar, risk for heart disease and added years on her life as well as her family and possibly coworkers all because she applied a meal prep tip she learned in class.
