Meet Andrew Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Moore.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrew. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am born and bred Houstonian. My current professions include being a fourth-year dental student, a model/actor for Neal Hamil Agency, and an active member and volunteer of Houston founded charity: Great Age Movement,

I grew up in the world of dentistry. My great grandfather was the first to become a dentist of my lineage, then my grandfather, then my father (who is still currently practicing in the Clear Lake region), and in May of 2020, myself. My father treats patients who saw my great grandfather and grandfather, and I hope to soon become these patient’s fourth-generation dentist!

My interest in dentistry began between the summer between high school and college. I started to develop a curiosity into what career path I wanted to choose, so I decided to research into and shadow different professions. A few days into shadowing my father practice dentistry, I knew my calling. I then attended UT Austin for undergrad, and am currently in the process of getting my D.D.S. at UT Health Houston.

I began modeling and acting in the summer of 2016 with Neal Hamil Agency. I had always had an interest in modeling, and at age 22, finally decided to give it a shot. Through my modeling and talent agency, I have acted in national commercials, been published in magazines and advertisements, participated in local runway shows, and have met some of the most amazing people Houston has to offer.

I have participated in Great Age Movement throughout my dental school career. The founder and my close friend Fritz McDonald created GAM to provide opportunities for seniors in the Houston community to integrate back into society through exercise programs. GAM is funded by the charity and has volunteers to lead seniors through workouts and events. I have participated in luncheons, art and exercise programs, and meetings with this organization. We are currently building Houston’s first senior-friendly playground at St. Dominic’s Village!

Has it been a smooth road?
One obstacle that I have noted throughout my young career is balance. Between school, work, charity, social events, and time with friends and family, life gets tiring and overwhelming. It took a while to learn how to disperse my time and energy well to the important things in my life.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
As for my dental career, I would like to practice general dentistry. I would like to continue my education outside of dental school and learn more complex treatment like implants, more complex endodontics, and more oral surgery procedures. Dental school is a strenuous four years, and I am proud to be at the end of my schooling career and am excited to begin my professional career!

I thoroughly enjoy modeling and acting, and am planning on continuing my career with Neal Hamil Agency throughout my dental career!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is a great place for dentistry! People in Houston are kind and of true character. The Houstonians that I have treated at the school are been thankful, kind, and professional. The diversity in the city of Houston has also helped me learn a lot about patient management and has helped me grow as a dentist and human being. Culture has a large influence on how a person views medical and dental care, and I have been blessed to be able to train and have patients in school of all cultural backgrounds.

Houston has also been a wonderful place for modeling and acting. There are a plethora of opportunities to kick off and have steady jobs throughout the years!

I would absolutely recommend living in Houston for dentistry or modeling!
