Meet Angelica Goodrich of O’Taste & See Catering in Spring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Goodrich.

Angelica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always loved to cook. Growing up, I would help my mother and grandma with events they had at church when we lived in Louisiana. Fast forward to 2016, I got into a bad car accident and lost my job and apartment. My father saw how down and out I was and suggested that I started doing plate lunches and selling them to employees at local businesses, family and friends. My goal was to sell at least ten plates a day at $10 a piece, $100 was most than most people make in a day. There were days I would only sell five plates and days I would sell 20 plates. As I was hustling to try to start my company, one of my really good friends suggested our catering service to a friend of hers that were getting married. The couple and all of their guest were blown away with the food and the service and It was then I knew I wanted to start my own catering business.

Has it been a smooth road?
Going into business for myself was the best thing I’ve ever done! It is NOT easy by any means. I’ve had people telling me that it’s just a hobby and I wouldn’t make any real money cooking. I’ve had difficult clients. Even weeks and months that I didn’t have clients at all! I cried a lot along the way but one thing I always knew is that it doesn’t come overnight and people have always loved my cooking.  I want to say give a big thanks to my parents for all of their help and encouragement.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with O’Taste & See Catering – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
O’Taste & see is a full-service catering company. We offer private chef services, cooking classes, meal prep and catering services. We’ve done small intimate dinners for two all the way up to weddings for 300. We specialize in Cajun, creole and soul food but we are not limited by those options! We’ve also can do bbq, Mexican and some Asian cuisine. I’m most proud that we have stayed consistent and that we have grown into a full-service catering business that offers serving staff and bartender services. Our level of service and the variety of cuisines we offer sets us apart from any other catering company in the Houston area. We love what we do.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Growing up in Louisiana and moving here to Houston, the city has way more opportunities for someone like me to grow a business and also a lot more people from different cultures and backgrounds. One thing I hate is the traffic and the commute times.
