Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Small.
Hi Angelica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always dreamed of having my own business! But…. with LIFE being LIFE, I became a young mom since then became a mom of 4! I’ve worked many different fields. From customer service to medical field and working the plant life. Going to school receiving many certificates. Just not being able to completely excel in any of my career/ businesses. I have been able to exceed more in my T-Shirt apparel small business. Which I would say so far has been the most successful for me. I am currently going to school to be an esthetician. In hopes of obtaining my license to then incorporate my T-Shirt business. My END goal is to provide my clients/ customers. Services and products that are made, created and giving with genuine thoughts from the heart. As I am all about Giving, helping, and providing my clients with experiences that will have them wanting to come back. For me, giving up is NOT an option. With the way LIFE is for me I truly believe in Self- Love, Self Care. Lady Small Shop is a place where you can come in knowing you will get some sort of Self therapeutic therapy. I find myself always listening to others, like complete strangers, no matter where I go. So why not become my own boss, while providing for not only my clients/customers but also my family. Finally, nearly 40 years old running a successful business that makes others feel beautiful about themselves! Why wouldn’t I not want to provide a little something whether it’s a small, tiny tattoo, facial or create you a shirt design that puts a smile on your face. All in the comfort of my small business. That right there is what makes me feel like I have finally made my dream come true.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Financially it has been very hard on top of that juggling mom, wife, employee roles have made it hard as well. I fell into depression at one point. I have always been a hard worker. And always on the go. But, in 2020 I became very depressed, and it was almost like I lost a whole year of my life. Almost losing our home, losing myself and my family suffering though it as well really hit me hard. I woke up one day and new I had to make a change. It definitely was not easy, but I can say that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create a lot of things I have a very artistic mind… but it seems to go everywhere because I have trouble focusing on one thing. I tend to spread myself beyond what I can realistically handle. I have always been like that. I’ve work with woodwork building furniture for customers. I create shirt designs if you have a certain design in mind, I take it and turn it into my own design. To your liking of course. I don’t necessarily specialize in anything I’m kind of all over the place. with that being said I’m like and entrepreneur jack of all trades master of none. My family and friends tell me all the timeI sell myslef short.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Stick With it , Focus on mastering one thing at a time. You can do a lot, just do it one at a time.
