Meet Angelle Harris of Retrospective Wellness Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelle Harris.

Hi Angelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
MISSION
To create lifelong bonds by fostering a healthier, more compliant future through compassionate mental health support and ethical, regulatory excellence in care services.

Retrospective Wellness Group (RWG) was founded in 2020—at the height of a global health crisis—with a mission rooted in resilience, compassion, and purpose. What began as a response to unprecedented challenges quickly evolved into a powerful movement to reimagine behavioral healthcare and provider support. RWG has since established itself as a trusted leader, bridging the gap between high-quality clinical services and operational excellence for provider agencies.

We specialize in psychotherapy, medication management, case management, and mental health rehabilitation services, and more. Offering personalized, evidence-based care tailored to meet both immediate mental health needs and long-term goals for stability and growth. Our approach centers on cultural responsiveness, trauma-informed care, and collaborative healing, ensuring each client receives support that is not only effective but also affirming.

With operations now expanding into Georgia, RWG is strategically positioned to meet the growing need for culturally competent, community-centered behavioral health services in underserved areas. Our team is made up of licensed professionals, program administrators, and behavioral health experts who bring decades of combined experience and a shared commitment to equity, empowerment, and accountability.

Founded in a moment of crisis, RWG has always understood the importance of adaptability, empathy, and strong systems of support. That foundation continues to shape our identity today—making us not only responsive to the complex realities of mental healthcare, but also proactive in building solutions for the future.

Whether supporting a family through therapy or helping a provider agency prepare for state audits, RWG brings the same values to every encounter: integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to mental wellness for all.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not been without challenges. Building Retro has been a rewarding journey, but like most meaningful work, it’s come with its struggles. One of the biggest hurdles was navigating the complexities of healthcare compliance and insurance systems, ensuring that our programs not only meet state and federal standards but also remain accessible to the people who need them most.

Another challenge has been balancing growth with maintaining the integrity of our mission. As demand for services increased, we had to be intentional about hiring and training staff who truly embody trauma-informed, client-centered care. This required time, patience, and constant evaluation to make sure we never compromise quality for speed.

There were also the practical struggles, securing funding, managing administrative demands, and educating the community about the services we provide. At times, it felt like we were climbing uphill.

But each obstacle helped shape Retro into what it is today. The struggles gave us resilience, strengthened our commitment, and reminded us why this work matters. Every family we support and every client who feels seen and heard makes the challenges worthwhile.

As you know, we’re big fans of Retrospective Wellness Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Retrospective Wellness Group, our journey is rooted in the belief that healing is not one-size-fits-all—it’s personal, reflective, and deeply human. Through collaboration, a team of passionate mental health professionals came together with a shared mission: to create a safe and supportive space where individuals can process their past, reclaim their present, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

We are a diverse group of therapists, counselors, case managers, and advocates who value compassion, cultural humility, and connection. Each member of our team brings unique expertise and life experience, united by a commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered care. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, grief, or life transitions, we’re here to walk alongside you with empathy and respect.

RWG – Letting your past work for your future.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Retro wouldn’t be where it is today without the incredible support system behind it. First and foremost, our team deserves so much credit. Every staff member brings their passion, expertise, and heart into the work, and together they’ve created a culture of compassion and accountability that keeps our mission alive.

I’ve also been fortunate to have mentors who guided me through the challenges of starting and growing a wellness organization. Their advice on leadership, compliance, and sustainable growth has been invaluable.

The clients and families we serve are also a huge source of inspiration. Their trust and willingness to share their journeys motivate us to continuously improve and expand our services.

And, of course, the advocates and community partners who believed in Retro from the beginning have played a vital role. Whether by collaborating on programs, spreading the word, or simply encouraging us to keep going, their support has carried us through difficult moments and helped us celebrate the victories along the way.

Retro is truly the result of a collective effort, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey.
