Today we’d like to introduce you to Anjanae Nieves.
Anjanae, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Tiny Trendsetters started as an all-girls boutique inspired by my daughter. I fell in love with her and the idea of dressing up your mini-me. After launching and getting multiple requests to add boy’s clothes, I decided to rebrand and reopen the online boutique as a girls AND boys store.
I noticed my progression and want to help others reach their potential as well as reaching a new milestone as a business owner. I created a networking event called “Entrepreneurs Galore” hosted by Tiny Trendsetters allowing other new local small businesses the opportunity to showcase their brand.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road but I don’t believe entrepreneurship is supposed to be. My biggest struggle is myself. Not allowing anything to discourage me and keeping the negativity away. Funding the business while maintaining debt-free and finding the balance of time for work, family and not feeling guilty about the excessive hours I’m putting into my business.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Tiny Trendsetters – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Tiny Trendsetters is an online boutique for children sizes 12-Months to kids 7. Our slogan is “Cool. Trendy. Fashionable.” And that is truly what we are! My goal was to create a neutral, fun look both girls and boys would love without them being uncomfortable. I’m most proud of the detail I’ve put into the business and also believe that’s what sets me apart from the others. I’ve focused on everything down to the packaging to make sure parents and their kids are intrigued and anticipate their package from us but love the clothes too.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love the most about Houston, Texas is the diversity. There is so many different cultures and everyone comfortably represents their roots.
What I like least about our city is there isn’t much exposure for small businesses. It doesn’t matter how good your product can be or how much you network and put yourself out there, you have to know the right people. Which is unfortunate…
