Meet Annastacia Edwards of STUDIO XVIII in Pearland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annastacia Edwards.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Annastacia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a Louisiana girl, born and raised. I have had a passion for hair since the age of 11. I’m now a 20-year experienced hairstylist. I knew in my heart this is what I wanted to do, but coming from where I’m from in my mind this wasn’t a life to really make decent money, you needed a college degree for that lifestyle. I was the girl doing all my peers hair in high school, after school, on the weekends, for events such as prom and etc… I was naturally self-taught for everything and was surprised by how well I mastered a lot of things on my own. I became a mother at 16 and thought my life and dreams were over. I remain to keep my grades awesome, finish high school, attend a semester or two of college and knew my heart wasn’t with me it was back home, which was my son. I couldn’t stomach being 4 hours away from him. I withdrew from college and started working to pay for cosmetology school. I attended the Aveda Institute in New Iberia, Louisiana and felt complete. After being in Louisiana building my business, my clientele, my brand for years, I still felt like I wasn’t doing enough, I wasn’t satisfied. I have never moved away from home before, my husband and I decided to shift some things in our life in order to see growth and accomplish our goals and provide a better life for our family. Life changed immediately. We sold everything and moved to Houston and I’m forever grateful for my transition. It was extremely difficult to move into a new area and start all over. I thank God daily for patience and prayer. I worked my fingers to the bones to build myself, my brand, my clientele all over again. After two years of hard work, I was able to open my salon here in Pearland, Texas and I’m forever grateful for the love and support I’ve received since being here. I’m a wife of an amazing husband, a mother of a college graduate, a 14-year-old princess, and a business owner. Never imagined I would have all the things that completes me coming from being a 16-year-old mother, hair is my passion! Never give up. Never stop praying. Never lose hope. Remain humble.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Working in other salons until I can build my clientele again was the hardest for me because I’ve always worked for myself and by myself, in my own small building back home. Starting over was the most difficult.

STUDIO XVIII – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The name of my salon is Studio xviii. The number is my family number and a very sentimental number for us. I wanted my business name to mean something of importance in my life that included my family which is everything to me. I specialize in everything I do, such as natural hair, haircuts, silk press, short hair, sewins, micro links, color and etc. I’m well known for my haircuts, which is my first love in the industry. I love clippers, I don’t like saying what sets me apart from others because I think every stylist is unique in their own way. I just know I take pride in every service I provide. I’m most proud of the reviews I get for my business that’s where the truth is, that means the most.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is within us all, we just have to find what we love and just do it, but do it with passion and love. I’m only looking to become even better than I was yesterday and to help other upcoming stylists grow as well.
