Meet Annelise Collazo of J. Oak Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annelise Collazo.

Hi Annelise, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2016, I started J. Oak out of my passion for empowering women through style. Originally my store was a brick & mortar which I closed to stay home with my children.

Fast forward to August of 2022, I knew it was time to bring my dream back to life. I reopened as an online women’s clothing boutique shipping nationwide. Currently, J. Oak is online and inside of 2 locations, I also do pop ups in the SETX/Houston areas.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to get to where I am now has not always been smooth. As a single mom who works full time, homeschools my 3 kids, and owns businesses, I am continually learning and growing.

Retail can be a tough industry to be in from keeping up with trends, competitive pricing, and knowing your clientele. Social media has also been a struggle as algorithms change, I have to adapt to ensure that my business is seen.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about J. Oak Boutique?
J. Oak is owned and operated solely by me. I curate the clothing specifically for my clientele with comfort, timeless style, and ease in mind. Style does not have to be complicated or uncomfortable.

The letter “J”, in J. Oak stands for two of my children whose names are Jack & Julianna, and it also stands for Jesus. “Oak” represents strength. Oak is the strongest wood. In a sense, Oak is to remind me and others of the strength that lies within each of us.
Each of my customers/supporters are prayed for by me and my kids.

J. Oak is known for a chic, tailored look, mostly neutral/muted colors, and pieces that can easily be styled.

J. Oak is here to make a statement. We are here to uplift, unite, empower, and remind women to be unapologetically authentic to themselves.

I am most proud of staying true to my mission and my style through my brand. In such a saturated industry it can be easy to conform to the latest trend just to hit sales.

I have a passion for helping women to feel the best version of themselves and style through J. Oak Boutique is one of the ways to spread this movement.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding likeminded people who share in your values, inspire, and push you, is vital. For me, I surround myself by people who support me and lift me up in prayer. We all have human moments and need a team (even a small one) to stand beside us and cheer us on through the tough times. I love surrounding myself with successful people who can inspire me.
