Today we’d like to introduce you to Annelise Jobim.
Hi Annelise, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am Brazilian, a lawyer, and I came to the United States seven years ago. As soon as I arrived here, I was called to be a judge in the Court of Justice in my state in Brazil. The decision to stay here was tough because I would leave behind a promising career and my family. So, I chose to stay and build a life here that I wouldn’t regret later.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the struggles along the way was leaving my elderly parents in Brazil. Furthermore, the pandemic time shook me tremendously, as I lost a 43-year-old brother to COVID-19, and I lost my father twelve days after my brother passed away. My father was with dementia that affected his swallowing system. I faced a nightmare in Brazil for two months. When I returned to Houston, I had to move to Kansas City for a year, and balancing all of this with dedication to my work was very challenging.

Six years ago, I started my first company. This company, International Student Experience, focuses on international students. I represent various educational institutions worldwide and help students in all phases of the process to come and study here in the United States, from the process with the educational institution to the American Consulate for the student visa. My passion is to help students and see their lives transformed for the better. That is my mission.
Three years ago, I started my second company, Unique Travels & Events, focusing on event organization here in Houston and group travels. I love to travel. I have been to twenty-five countries, and I have plans to visit four more countries in Europe in January 2024. So, as traveling is also my passion, I see myself fully prepared to lead travel groups through the technical skills acquired from my experience traveling the world. The next challenge for 2024 will be to bring together foreigners from all over the world for a travel group to Brazil. My country is beautiful and full of natural and cultural riches, and I want to give people the opportunity to experience this beautiful side of Brazil.
One year ago, I started my third company in Houston in the fashion industry, Bossa Jobim Boutique. I have always had difficulties buying clothes because I am highly demanding. After a few years of researching the fashion market here in Houston and comparing it to fashion in Paris, London, Milan, and Southern Brazil, I identified a great need in our city to have a boutique with elegant and sophisticated clothing. So, I selected the highest quality brands from Brazil and started my boutique here. Today, I have an online and physical store in my home, giving people the opportunity to schedule an appointment not only to buy clothes but also to have a technical opinion on what they will wear and what will fit perfectly on their bodies.

Many people ask me how I dedicate myself to three companies without losing focus. First, I am extremely organized and optimize my time to the maximum. Second, I believe in financial success with business diversification. Third, I don’t waste time looking at the competition; my focus is on doing the best for my clients, managing my finances well, and taking care of my health.
Today, I feel fulfilled realizing that my companies contribute to the Brazilian and American economies. Additionally, it contributes to the professional growth of many students, the well-being of our event attendees and group travelers, and the empowerment of women who feel beautiful and confident wearing elegant and high-quality clothing. Providing the best experience for people is my focus, and I make no effort to do so, always acting masterfully.
