Meet Annie Duckworth of Neat Method in The Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Duckworth.

Annie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a native Houstonian who attended Episcopal High School in Bellaire. I decided to venture outside of Texas and get my degree in Marketing with a concentration in Entrepreneurship at the University of Kansas. After graduating, I got my real estate license but ended up working for a tech startup here in Houston as the Marketing Coordinator. As the coordinator, I was on social media all the time. That is how I discovered the company NEAT Method. I was hooked right away. In my free time, I would organize and reorganize my house. That’s when I decided to follow in my father’s entrepreneurial footsteps and apply for the Houston franchise. After a series of interviews, I found out that I had gotten the Houston market. I have owned the franchise for just under a year.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always challenges when it comes to starting your own business. With that being said, I have enjoyed working through those challenges and solving them along the way. NEAT Method has a great corporate team who has been very supportive throughout this entire process. The 50+ franchisees across the U.S. are all extremely helpful and always eager to give creative advice on a new project when called upon. It can be a nice team collaboration at times.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the NEAT Method story. Tell us more about the business.
I own a luxury organizing company here in Houston called NEAT Method. It is a lifestyle service committed to providing a more luxurious and smartly appointed living space. We recognize that life gets hectic and that maintaining an organized home can become a challenge. NEAT Method will design a customized solution that is not only effective but also sustainable for each client’s specific needs. We will organize, purchase and implement solutions as well as donate and consign any unwanted items leaving our clients nothing left to do but enjoy their space.

I was drawn to the NEAT brand because I loved their authentic approach, sharp eye for detail, and tasteful style. We share the belief that once your life is clutter free and well arranged, you will have a new appreciation for the importance of living NEAT.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t describe it as luck, but I have been fortunate enough to attend some wonderful schools and get a great education. I was also fortunate enough to have some incredible mentors in my life from an early stage. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the corporate team. They truly go above and beyond with their help and support. I also believe I just happened to be at the right place at the right time for the sudden organization craze that has been happening over the past few months.
