Today we’d like to introduce you to Coach April Elle.
April, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is April Elle. I am a life coach and motivational speaker who resides in beautiful Savannah, Georgia. I became a life coach after my divorce. Before that time, I didn’t even know what a coach was. A friend of my mine, who’s also a coach, put me in touch with my coach of now almost ten years. She walked with me through the divorce process and was a key role in my healing. The work that we did together that led to my healing place inspired me to want to do the same for other women. I am also a licensed Master cosmetologist. I feel like my skills in both being a coach and stylist is where passion meets purpose. I absolutely love making women feel good about themselves on the inside and out. As a coach, I help women gain clarity, set goals and meet and exceed them. I want to see every woman live the very best version of themselves.
Has it been a smooth road?
I wholeheartedly believe that God gave me the talent to do both my passions. As a stylist my work speaks for itself, so marketing and getting clients to the chair wasn’t as hard. As a coach, it takes a lot more work. I’m not going to lie; I had the same mentality I had as a stylist. If I build it, they will come. Nope! It was a whole new ballgame. I struggled with marketing. I found myself faced with the cute graphics and website setup but no clients. Now what! My coach said “April, this business will take time to build. People have to know, like and trust you before they will book with you.” I hired a business coach, followed other coaches on social media, read books and invested in courses. I then found myself overwhelmed and so focused on the marketing, I wasn’t practicing or sharpen my coaching skills. I had to have coaching session with myself one day and determined that I was going to take a breathe, put what I’d learned through the numerous sessions with my business coach and other courses into action and get back to my passion of coaching. I made a list of people who I’d reach out to and offer sessions. Paid or Pro bono, didn’t matter, I needed to get back to what I loved. It’s still a journey, but that’s what business is.
Please tell us about your work.
I am a life coach and motivational speaker. While I can coach any one on any area, my niche is helping women who have been divorced regain clarity, redesign and move forward with their lives. I recently launched my new webshow “Life after the D” to show women examples of other women who have been where they are and are thriving after divorce. I am also known for my #NotYourAverageGirl movement. This movement came about after my divorce to help inspire, empower and encourage all women to live the very best version of their lives. I am most proud, as a small business, to be in a position to help impact lives. I believe that is the reason we are all put here. We have purpose and when we walk fully in that, we can bring about great change. What sets me apart from others is that I truly care if what I do is effective. I don’t ever what to provide fluff when it comes to impacting lives. I take the gifts that God has given me serious. I believe it comes through my work with my clients.
