Today we’d like to introduce you to Arabia Thompson.
Arabia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in Killeen, TX but officially moved to Houston after graduating from Prairie View A&M University. After working on campus for a few years, I began teaching in Houston. As I grew to appreciate the vacation days, I realized I needed a hobby. Lol! A friend of mine mentioned she was a travel agent and it peaked my interest. Hesitant at first, I did some research then realized it could be good for me! So I took a leap of faith and started my own travel business that fit with my lifestyle.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. Being such a reserved person, I had to break the fear of putting myself out there and gain traction. It’s not an overnight business and the turnaround can definitely be slow. So I settled in, learned more about my field and created relationships that evolved into a consistent client base.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the A. R. Thompson Travel story. Tell us more about the business.
Whether a business or leisure trip, I provide the ideal travel planning experience. In short, I’ll do the work for you!
I created a travel page and club where we discuss everything travel (and culture) related for you to use completely to your advantage. I help families, friends, couples and clients of all ages pursue a variety of destinations to include Disney, Universal, a variety of cruise lines, including Carnival and much more!!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
It depends on what you call luck. If “knowing the right people” and being in the right place at the right time is luck then it may be on my side. But in that same regard there’s always room for improvement and growth and that’s what presently focused on right now.
