Today we’d like to introduce you to Areial Taylor.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Areial. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always had a passion to make women look good. I stated taking hair seriously while I was in high school I use to do my friends hair for money and also some of my teachers hair. Doing hair is some the that came very natural to me like breathing. I knew that being a hairstylist is something I want to do till I die. I went to college for business but I’m just one of those people that school is not for. After a semester of figuring that out I dropped out and pursued my passion in hair artistry. I went to Paul Mitchell the school and graduated with my cosmetology license. I bounced around to different hair salons and doing apprenticeships so that I could soak up all the knowledge possible to be a great hair stylist. After working for others I decided to start my own business called Make Me Gorgeous Salon where I have my own hair products with my Gorgeous Hair Extension line.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been smooth any road to success will have its twist and turns and obstacles. I remember my first year starting out on my own my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I felt like I was under so much pressure because I was just Starting out and establishing myself as a stylist and taking care of my sick mother. At times I only made enough money to pay my booth rent for the week.It was definitely hard but we both pulled through. She’s healthy and I’m now making 6 figures god is good.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is exactly as stated Making Women GORGEOUS lol I specialize in hair extensions and coloring. My company is better known for my extension technique called “The Taylor Technique” which is a Microlink extension technique that allows my clients to have the most versatility with their extensions.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the most about Houston is that it’s a melting pot of people with different walks of life. I meet so many different people here. What I don’t like is the traffic lol I’m sure that’s on the top of everybody’s list.
