Today we’d like to introduce you to Ari Riar and Rohana Perera.
Ari and Rohana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We both come from middle class families from south Asian countries India and Sri Lanka. After our higher studies in structural engineering we landed here to pursue our American Dream. We spent about 15 years honing our skills through hard work and dedication. And in 2014 we decided to start our own structural engineering consulting firm Nexgen Engineers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was a struggle early on in our carriers as most immigrants go through such as learning the ways of new culture, Also on professional side had to learn new building codes, transitioning from metric to US standard system was probably the toughest. It has been smooth ride since we started on our own. But there is always constant pressure to keep up with client expectations and we like it that way as it propels us to strive hard and to be best in our field.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nexgen Engineers – what should we know?
We provide structural engineering consulting services for Residential as well as Commercial projects. Our strength is delivering the designs with quick turnaround time, as time is money in construction business. We believe communication is the key for customer satisfaction and we try to keep the clients in the loop throughout the design process and discuss with them all the alternatives to be within their budget.

Our families definitely deserve the credit for our success. They have been encouraging throughout and has sacrificed a lot.
