Ariana, it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
Hey guys, I’m Ariana – a dog mom and wife who turned her passion for fashion into a business. My consignment boutique, A.Fordable Fashions LLC began as The Diva Downsize in October 2017 before I got married that December. It’s an online shop featuring new and pre-loved clothing and accessories for ladies of all sizes and styles. It exists to enhance true beauty by embracing personal style, promote and revolutionize sustainable fashion as well as commit to community involvement. Every woman deserves to feel their best and who doesn’t feel great when they look fabulous, have a bit of extra cash or even just feel cared for?
For the benefit of our readers can you go into more detail about what you do.
The short of what I do is reselling women’s clothing and accessories. I purchase or consign unwanted, yet great quality items directly from your closet and sell them online to my customers. My inventory is nationally sourced and a good number of items were acquired overseas by the owners. Inventory gets to me via local pickups and meets in Houston or by shipping. I do a final appraisal once I have the items then proceed to prepare them for showcasing. Once items are purchased the consignor gets 40% of that sale with no maximums or minimums. The items that I’d rather not sell get individually packaged by size and type and delivered to local women in need.
What is the overall vision for your business?
A.Fordable Fashions will be the hub for gems from all kinds of women around the world. I see wonderful connections and creations being made and lives being changed through the power of fashion and compassion.
Has anything new and/or exciting happened since we last communicated?
A lot has definitely happened since my last interview. For starters, I began running my business full-time in June 2020 after being cut from the workforce due to the pandemic. Since then I made A.Fordable Fashions an LLC, rebranded (twice), participated in a few pop-up events and have added custom upcycled pieces to my repertoire.
