Today we’d like to introduce you to Arielle Green
Hi Arielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always loved beauty and the process of getting ready, but my journey as a professional makeup artist didn’t begin until I was 27. After being laid off from my job at Hewlett-Packard, I was devastated and spent time searching for new opportunities—but nothing seemed to take off. That’s when I made the decision to invest in a skill that I knew would always be in demand. I enrolled in esthetician school to build a strong foundation in skincare and beauty, which ultimately led me to pursue makeup professionally. Turning my passion into a career was one of the best choices I’ve ever made, and it set me on the path to where I am today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced a ton of obstacles, mostly financial ones. Being the first in my family to pursue entrepreneurship, I didn’t have many people to turn to for advice. But I’ve always been eager to seek knowledge and apply what I learn to my own journey. Building from the ground up has been challenging, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. Every setback has taught me resilience, and every win—big or small—reminds me why I chose this path.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional makeup artist specializing in TV and film. My work focuses on creating camera-ready looks that enhance storytelling, whether for red carpet events, live performances, or on-screen productions. I take pride in my ability to adapt to high-pressure environments and bring out the best in my clients, whether they’re actors, musicians, or industry professionals.
One of my proudest moments was working on a Netflix red carpet premiere and the BET Awards, where I did makeup for Ice Spice’s dancers. These experiences reinforced my ability to deliver flawless, long-lasting looks under fast-paced conditions.
What sets me apart is my attention to detail, my deep understanding of different skin tones, and my ability to create natural yet polished looks that translate beautifully on camera. I also love sharing industry insights and helping upcoming artists navigate the world of TV and film makeup. For me, it’s not just about makeup—it’s about confidence, transformation, and storytelling.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For anyone just starting out, my biggest advice is to stay persistent and always be willing to learn. This industry is all about experience, connections, and resilience. Take every opportunity you can—whether it’s assisting, networking, or working on smaller projects—to build your skills and reputation.
I wish I knew earlier how important networking is. Talent will get you in the door, but relationships will keep you in the room. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself, ask questions, and put yourself in spaces where opportunities happen. Also, invest in quality products and education, but don’t feel pressured to have everything all at once—start with what you have and grow from there.
Most importantly, don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Everyone moves at their own pace, and success in this industry is built over time. Stay focused, keep improving, and trust that your hard work will pay off.
