Meet Arturo Boada of Arturo Boada Cuisine in Galleria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arturo Boada.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Arturo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have 35 years of cooking in Houston, I had the opportunity to cook in Hong Kong, Thailand, and South America in Houston, I had numerous restaurants well recognized and also accumulated national awards. A partial list includes 1990 best restaurants in America, 1992 Top Rising Chefs in America by Food & Wine Mg Houston Magazine 1999-2000-2001 Top Chefs, 1998 guest Chef at James Beard Foundation Esquire Magazine, Solero Restaurant Best new Restaurant.2005-2011 Arturo’s Up Town Italiano.

Currently, I own and operate Arturo Boada Cuisine. Next to my Nephew Camilo Boada. Our Restaurant is a neighborhood boutique concept with Italian, Spanish and Latin cuisine. I had the honor to cook in a private home for former president George Bush Sr.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Moved in the USA in 1981 started college but dropped six months later there for I was on my own. Not an easy ride, started peeling potatoes in a Black Eye Pea then T.G.I.F learns speed, consistency, portion control. Worked at Chez Eddy at Methodist Hospital this place no sugar salt, cream all heart healthy.

Then Charlies 517. 5-star restaurant International Cuisine left as a Chef. Moved to Newport Beach California worked at Four Seasons Hotel restaurant Chef moved back to Houston the rest is history.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Arturo Boada Cuisine story. Tell us more about the business.
I designed the restaurant. I designed the kitchen and menu I work every night in the line with my cooks my nephew Camilo runs the dining room the restaurant is a Boutique concept only seats 60 guests Italian, Spanish, Latin and Asian Cuisine.

I am known for many years in Houston. At Arturo Boada Cuisine we have been open for 8 years very proud of it and my staff what sets me apart from others? I am in this business for the love of it, not the money. I love cooking and pleasing my guests in cooking them anything besides the menu. I am very lucky to do what I love the most.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am very blessed that I do what I love the most, and is cooking and pleasing my guests. I believe that in life you work honest and hard there for you make your own luck.
