So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My career all started when I made a trip to MAC cosmetics to learn how to fill in my eyebrows. I started dabbling in makeup in 2012. I felt like outside of painting, I felt like makeup was a great way to express my niche in the art field. Over the years, I’ve watched myself grow in my profession. I absolutely how women react after I have completed their makeup application, they are would be in complete shock and utter awe, in a good way! That is the best feeling in the world and keeps fueling the fire to better myself and offer such services.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. The main struggle that I would have would be self-doubt. I would allow my mind to win, thinking I am not as good as I really am. I would begin to compare myself to other local artists and wonder why “such-such” did not book me. It is the worse than that could happen as a small business owner and if you allow that self-doubt to fester, it consume you and you will give up on your passion, completely!
Ashley Adams Beauty – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Ashley Adams Beauty is run myself, Ashley Adams. I am professional, freelance makeup artist that specializes in bridal and beauty makeup applications. Weddings are my favorite part of the industry. What sets me apart from others is the exclusive, customizable packages for brides. I like to look at it as a bridal concierge. After the makeup application, I assist the bride with her dress and veil, beauty timeline coordination, after ceremony touch ups and much more. I want the bride to have the best time not worrying about the minor things and focus on her future husband.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was working the Superbowl in Houston, TX. I had the privilege of working with the NFL Vice President wife and daughter and many other events during that weekend.
