Meet Ashley Crum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Crum.

Ashley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got into real estate in 2014 after leaving the corporate world to get into a career that was “more flexible” and allowed me to spend more time with my family. I truthfully didn’t do much in those first couple of years besides spend more time with my family! Fast forward to 2016, I got a divorce and wasn’t left with much. It was either get out there and hit the ground running or go back to the corporate world. I had to be able to provide for my kids. I was approached by a friend and colleague because she was looking to start a team. I was a couple of years in with a few transactions under my belt, but still looking for that one on one guidance. This was a pivotal point for me in my career. I went from three transactions to increasing my volume by 500% in that first year on her team. My continued growth over the years has been exponential and has brought about so many opportunities. One which I will be announcing soon!

I have met many great mentors and built amazing relationships with both other professionals as well as the clients and friends that I serve. I continue to grow professionally by staying up to date with what’s going on in the industry. I am a certified Military Relocation Professional and have been awarded as a 2018 HAR YPN 20 Under 40 recipient. I am involved with HAR’s Young Professional Advisory Group, the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals, Montgomery County Women’s Council of Realtors, the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee, and the Montgomery County Political Affairs Advisory Leadership group. I am beyond blessed to have the ability to thrive in the real estate industry and hope to leave a legacy for my children one day.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, definitely not. Real Estate is easy, but remaining consistent is hard. At times it can be a bit of a roller coaster, both in business and personally. For me, it’s about learning to take control of my schedule and pushing myself to do better every day. Finding that balance between work and family life is also a very big struggle of mine. If you didn’t know, I also have three kids (two very active boys and a brand new baby girl) as well as a wonderful fiance that is a Houston Firefighter, in the Army National Guard, and going to paramedic school. So you can imagine what our calendar looks like! Always on the run is an understatement! I am so thankful for all of my family, friends, and clients that have trust me by either working with me personally or sending me their loved ones to work with. I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today if it weren’t for them.

We’d love to hear more about your business.

I am a Realtor in The Woodlands area. My specialty is in helping Veterans find home. As I previously mentioned, I am a certified MRP and involved with VAREP. Understanding the VA loan, programs, rights and benefits that are available to our veterans and going the extra mile for them is the least I can do.

What were you like growing up?
As a kid, I was pretty independent and outgoing. I loved dancing and performing. I was a dancer from the age of 4 until I was in college. I even picked up ballroom dancing a couple of years ago for a little bit.
