Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Hart.
Ashley, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was younger, my grandma introduced me to sewing and I was always a kid who loved to create things. Especially items that I could wear. In 5th grade, I started my own business named Fab Designs. I would make bows, headbands, bibs, or customize clothing to sell to my friends at school. Fashion and creating was always something that piqued my interest. As the years went by, people would always ask what my biggest goal that I would like to accomplish when I’m older is. I would always say I would like to have my own clothing line. For years it was the same answer and then an idea came to me my sophomore year of high school when I was 16. Why can’t I just start now? Why wait when I could be fulfilling what I’ve always dreamed about and had a passion for? That same week I created the name Avenzi Clothing and my website.
I completed my internship and then immediately after, I purchased my first set of inventory. I would do pop up shops to get the brand out there when I was younger—stuffing my car or my Mom’s car with my set up for the pop-up shop after school or on weekends. My parents have always been greatly supportive of my dreams and goals and so has my family. Fast forward to 2020, I am still doing what I love and greatly appreciate all the new customers, returning customers, and the people who have supported my business. I now offer customers to order online or I provide customers with the option to pick up on hand items in Houston, Austin, San Marcos, and San Antonio. Sometimes being a college student and running a business can be overwhelming at times, but I wouldn’t change it for anything because I always remember why I started. Avenzi is what keeps me going. My goal is to continue expanding my brand and with my drive and ambition and the genuine support behind me, I will be able to do just that.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say at times, it can be challenging balancing college with my business, but I make sure to always pace myself and plan ahead to provide my customers with the best experience while also taking care of my responsibilities. Some days may be slow days for your business as well but I never let that thought get me down. I just keep a positive mind and brand myself and that’s what keeps my business going.

Avenzi Clothing is a Houston based business that ships worldwide but also provides on hand pick up for items in the Houston area. Pickups are also available periodically in Austin, San Marcos, and San Antonio. Due to me commuting to college as well. My brand is known for distributing the latest styles and fashion pieces. We pride ourselves on providing customers with great quality clothing and great material. We are known as the business that provides pick-ups in various places in Houston. Customers can pick up items in Houston in the following areas; Downtown, Galleria area, Memorial Area, Houston Heights, etc. The thing that I’m most proud of about my company is the fact that I started this when I was 16 and now I’m just watching myself and my brand grow from an idea and dream I always saw myself doing.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The thing I love most about my city is the diversity. It’s so many people and things to learn about just in Houston. The thing I would say I like least about Houston is the opportunities or platforms that support the fashion industry. I believe that there are so many talented and unique individuals in the fashion industry and it’s so kind of challenging to get out there because Houston isn’t known commonly for a lot of opportunities in the fashion industry. But I do see sometimes event planners that try to push platforms in Houston for fashion and I love seeing that.
