Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Jimenez.
Ashley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I first discovered makeup, I was 18 years old, at first I saw it more as a hobby rather than a life long career. I loved creating different looks on myself and my family. Due to having a son I was unable to find a full-time job, so I wanted to find something I could do at home while also taking care of him. As time progressed, my love for makeup grew and I decided to pursuit it as a career. Pursuing a career in makeup was a wise decision due to the fact I was able to do it at home. My first step was to go to school in order to get a certification in becoming a certified makeup artist. After completing my course, things were not as easy as I thought they would be. I faced many challenges while trying to build my clientele and getting known in the industry.
After several months of working at home and not having a steady clientele coming in, I decided to try and branch out to a very known hair salon in the Pasadena area, Naty Salon and Spa. The position was very fitted to my accommodations due to the fact they needed an MUA only on weekends which allowed my mother to watch my son for me. Working at the salon was the peak of my career and it leads me getting a lot of practice on different eye shapes, skin tones, and various skin types. I had many wonderful experiences working there like going with the owner Naty to work at Telemundo Houston and also meeting so many great makeup artists and hairstylists. After all the opportunities at Naty Salon, my confidence was at its all-time highest and I decided to pursue my makeup career once again at home. After several years I now have two kids who motivate me to strive to my ultimate potential. I now run my business all at home and it has been very successful, although I am not where I want to be I am still very thankful for how far I’ve come.
Has it been a smooth road?
Growing a business has not always been the easiest. I faced the obstacle of sometimes not having a babysitter to watch my son when I was supposed to work. Till this day, it is a challenge standing out and being known since they’re so many makeup artists in the Pasadena area.

My business specializes in creating natural and dramatic looks for special occasions such as weddings, quinceaneras, prom, and photo-shoots. I am proud of how much my business has grown. Not only has my business grown along the way but also myself as an individual. What sets me apart from others is that even though I have had so many obstacles, I never give up and continue on trying to grow my business.
