Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Pomerville.
Ashley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a teen, I struggled with problematic skin. I always sought help through several different Dermatologist, but to no avail; I came to the realization in order to get rid of my acne for good, I needed a strict skin care regimen paired with eating the proper foods that promote healthy vibrant skin. I was floored with the results, and became intrigued with helping others maintain their skin. I enrolled at Aveda Institute and completed their esthetic course. Then soon after, I completed my cosmetic tattooing license to offer semi-permanent makeup. My extended tenure working in the Medical Spa industry alongside some of the top plastic surgeons and aesthetic physicians in both Houston and Austin, propelled my knowledge and experience to a point where the only natural transition was to strike out on my own. In 2015 I decided to open my own spa, where we offer a broad spectrum of services from microblading to chemical peels. I feel very fortunate to be able to truly enjoy the work I do with Beautopia clientele, alongside my well trained, proficient colleague.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There is, and will always be, day to day challenges in having your own business. When I first started out, I rented a very small space inside a spa with little to no parking for my clients. I found renting from an owner that offers similar services, to be a bit problematic to say the least. Early on, Marketing proved to be tricky as well. Sifting through companies that did not produce results, harvested lots of frustration, because of the loss of time and money invested. However, the good news was that this is my passion, and challenges here have never really lived up to they’re name as far as I’m concerned. They’ve always felt more like a mandated task that once complete, allows me to advance to the next task. I enjoy this process, however, social media outlets, word of mouth, and Yodle are now getting Beautopia Skin Studios name spread to the masses.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Beautopia Skin Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an aesthetician, cosmetic tattoo specialists, and owner of my company, The Beautopia Skin Studio which supports those skill-sets.
