Meet Ashley Sherrell of Ashley Sherrell Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Sherrell.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up being obsessed with health, and fitness. At a young age, I was aware of the many health issues that came along with eating bad food, and not working out. During the summer as a kid, I would stay up all night until “Total Body Gilad” or one of Denise Austin’s Pilates workouts would come on TV. I would give myself challenges such as “How many push-ups or jumping jacks can I do”. Fast forward to adulthood I started working at La Fitness, as well as 24 Hour Fitness managing the companies and I simply fell in love. Learning the ins and outs of how a gym operates, and helping others achieve their goal was also so satisfying, I knew I wanted to do more but couldn’t place my finger on it. I went to sleep one night had a dream that I quit my job and became a trainer. I woke up that very next morning, contemplated all day and decided to quit, I drove to 24-hour fitness turned my keys in at midnight! Looked up how to obtain a Personal Training Certification, I gave myself a deadline to pass the test. Here we are four certifications later (NASM, CES, AFAA, AFPA)!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been interesting, I have learned something new each year. Running a business your always adjusting, making changes. One of my biggest struggles has been learning not to worry. Coming up with a game plan versus stressing about something that hasn’t worked. Learning how to properly market business/myself is a continuous struggle lol

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am so passionate about this career, I wake up excited to begin my day at 5 am, which isn’t easy but I am waking up early to do what I love. On top of being a Personal Trainer I have a meal prep company, I preach healthy eating all day so why not add it to the business. Cooking has always been one of my hobbies, I believe eating healthy doesn’t have to be nasty. I as well have an athleisure wear line. My goal is to eventually be a one stop shop! I want to make it to where everyone comes to me with all their needs. I specialize in weight loss, weight gain, group training, as well as Pre and Postnatal Training. I am known for intense workouts, I have a nickname which I find rather funny “Major Payne” or “Pistol Pete”. We’re going to work for 60 minutes, we don’t quit we make adjustments but we never give up. I believe that my passion, my drive, my desire to see others achieve their goals is what sets me apart. I’m not the trainer sitting in the corner on their phone if I need to finish an exercise with my clients to help keep them going I will, I hold them accountable and I hold myself accountable by ensuring I am providing the best workout plan that suits them. I am proud of my clients, without them I wouldn’t be here. My clients do the hard work I just give instructions. I am the brand, they are the brand, and we are a team. I understand that losing weight and gaining muscle can be challenging, and my goal is to help others overcome hurdles and reach their goals.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
In this business, I believe you have to be trustworthy your clients need to be able to trust you, and not second guess anything you are saying. I am telling them what to eat, creating custom plans for each of them. They need to believe in me and that plan. You must be Dependable, they depend on you not only physically but mentally, and emotionally as well. Being honest with my clients and having proper leadership to guide them down the right path.
