Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Wexelberg.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been into doing hair, but the timing was never right, until a few years ago when I was able to attend Paul Mitchell School in Houston. It was an amazing experience and I met a lot of wonderful people that I’m happy to say are in my life now hopefully forever. I have lived in Katy most of my life, so I decided to open a little salon next door to my husbands business, Firebird Tattoo Studio.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a pretty smooth road, so far, but there have been a lot of ups and downs. There are people along the way that say they wanna help out, work with you, etc., then never follow through, but I guess thats just the downside of running a business. It has been a wonderful experience but it is a ton of hard work and dedication, but I wouldn’t change anything about it. I love my salon and how I got it where it was mostly on my own and with my husband’s help, of course, he’d been my rock for sure!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Prepare To Dye Hair Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a full-service salon and offer it all! Basic Color, Highlights, Balayage/Ombre, Fantasy/Vivid Colors, Brazilian Blowouts, Lash Extensions, Hair Extensions, Keratin Treatments and more!! We really enjoy the fantasy/vivid colors but we can do it all! We are located in Katy and are one of the only Paul Mitchell Salons in the Katy area. I think what sets us apart is we are more about the customers’ needs than the money. I don’t see the point is overcharging clients for them to come one time and never return, or a ton of “add ons” to a hair service. We are never going to sell you something you don’t need and we are also never going to promise something we know we can’t deliver, just to take your money. I am very proud of where we are so far and can’t wait to see where it goes from here!!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think luck has anything to do with it honestly, I think you get out what you give in and if you work hard and don’t quit, then you can do anything. I know that sound’s super cheesy but it is true. You can’t let negative things or people discourage you, or blame bad luck because things aren’t going your way. There are always going to be negative people and things happening around you, but if you ignore them and move forward, then nothing can affect you!
