Meet Barry Blanton of Blanton Advisors in The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barry Blanton. Him and his team share his story with us below.

Please kick things off for us – please give us some background on Barry’s story.
Barry D. Blanton has worked for both public and private companies holding positions of Division President for a large public company, President of a $200 million savings bank and CFO of a privately held specialty building products company. His experience includes start-ups and fast growth companies as well as divestitures and downsizing. He has successfully coordinated financing, process improvement, policy implementation and small acquisitions for several growing and changing companies.

Blanton Advisors was founded in 2010 by Barry D. Blanton who wanted the opportunity to provide practical business solutions for small and mid-sized business owners. His experience offers a unique ability to help entrepreneurs to work on their business and not just in their business. His objective is to equip owners with tools to better understand their business and make more informed decisions without spending excessive amounts of time doing so.

In addition to CFO related services, Blanton provides consulting services related to Leadership, Strategic Planning, Business Plan Development, and Meeting Facilitation.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being a small business owner is not easy. Juggling business development with performing the actual work along with the business administration is a challenge. And in professional services, we must always be delivering value in order to maintain clients. Every day is a new day and every client is a new opportunity.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I think I would begin to leverage through other resources sooner. I originally intended to be a one-man firm for a long time. I thought I could make that work. Well, I hired a subcontractor within a year. In order to grow, scale and handle volume, I need to leverage through other resources.
