Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatriz Ramirez.
Beatriz, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was just a teen, I always dreamed of being a hair stylist. My front door neighbor owned her own salon, And the main thing I remember is thinking how cool she was! She made people feel better about themselves and look absolutely amazing. So, as the years passed my best friend signed me up at Remington college for cosmetology, I took my chances and just went for it. I lost my mom when I was eight years old from lung cancer but my goal was to make her proud, and what better way than to follow my dreams and go for it! My dad was extremely supportive and told me that he would support me with whatever I wanted to do as long as I was happy doing it!
Before you know I’m enrolled and ready to go! I absolutely enjoyed every day of school, I graduated with a 4.0 never missed a day and always left feeling fulfilled. Throughout the years I worked at a few salons. I started at a Fantastic sams, then TGF hair cutter and last at Milagro salons.
Every single one of these places made me who I am today, I learned different lessons at each place, Different techniques/skills, Gained confidence and so much more. This year in March I hit my ten-year mark of doing what I love the most, it’s crazy but it doesn’t even feel like it. It’s been a DECADE!! So, against all Odds I’ve decided to take a leap of Faith and start my own business. SimplyBea will be the name of my new salon. It’s inside Sola salons and I’ll be starting September 1st with one of my dearest friends Arianna. We decided not to have to do this alone so we agreed on a double studio!!! I’m so grateful to have Ari by my Side for this new chapter!
I can’t explain how excited I am! I’M FINALLY DOING THIS!! Working for other people was nice but you’ll never get paid what you deserve. Life has really beaten me down Ever since I can remember so I’d like to share my life story for others to know that things will get better, and hard work DOES pay off!
When I was eight, I lost my mom from lung Cancer, I also lost my baby sister Cathy a month after my mom passed. She was very sick due to my mom’s illness and was never able to breathe on her own. God had a plan for Everyone but I was broken at such a young age. At eight I didn’t know much but I understood she wasn’t coming back.
Throughout my mom’s chemo, she asked a dear friend of hers to come to the US to help with my sister Jessica and Me; and she did. She flew in From El Salvador as soon as she could and helped Feed us, take us to school and so much more. She basically helped raise us after my mom was gone! We loved her dearly as if she was our own mom, “how could someone give up their life and help in such an incredible way?” She was an angel sent from God!
In 2017, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer! I didn’t understand why I had to go through this again! my heart was broken all over again, but my sister and I chose to be as positive about the situation. We hoped and prayed all the time. We took turns taking her to her treatments, we made her laugh, we supported her to best of our ability. We did everything we could even tried a few clinical trials and nothing helped. When the doctors told us there was nothing else, they could do, she decided she wanted to go back to El Salvador. So as good daughters we granted her last wishes. Even if it hurt us to let her go before the time. This all happen Dec. 2019 we left heart broken but promised her we’d visit but mid-January we got the call!
So, we rushed to the airport and got the first flight available. We made it just in time because the very next day she passed!! I couldn’t understand how this was happening to me again. I was angry, hurt, depressed and so many other feelings, I didn’t understand how I had lost two moms at the age of 28 I went through the HARDEST time of my life!!! I couldn’t get out of bed nor did I have motivation to work or do anything. The pandemic saved me a lot of misery; I was out of work but I wasn’t forced to put on a face every day.
So, I can definitely say it helped my grieving process! I prayed, and prayed and prayed to get out of that dark place I was in and now out of the blue I feel a fire again, a fire to go after what I’ve always dreamed of. To finally have my own business, so against all odds I chose to simply do it!
Not worrying about this pandemic, nor these hurricanes or how shitty 2020 had been, I’m going after my dreams and I will not give up! I will work harder than I ever have if That’s even possible. I will go above and beyond for my clients and whoever wants to grow in this industry! So, my goal now is to inspire anyone going through difficult times! Never give up and push past these hard times and go on your own! Take a leap of faith and go after what you want in life! It’s possible!!!! You just have to believe it!
