Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth DeLozier-Hayes.
Beth, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The spark for Manor came from a few long distance friends. I had been working as a home stager and interior designer in Houston for many years, and I was assisting friends out of state with furniture selections. One of them joked that if I just put all of these things on a website, she wouldn’t have to bug me every time she needed something. 🙂 So, I started doing some research, and I realized the e-commerce furniture/gift market was desperately lacking a small, boutique home decor shop. There was your Amazon, Wayfair, Pottery Barn, etc. But I wanted something that was a marriage between those bigger powerhouses and Etsy. A well-edited collection of high-end decor, but fun & quirky.
Has it been a smooth road?
We are just about to celebrate our 4th birthday, and the biggest struggles were at the beginning. It wasn’t that long ago, but at that time, the thought of not having a brick and mortar- and not really ever wanting one – sounded crazy to most people. That and the fact that I knew absolutely nothing about starting an online store, shipping, or the minutia that go along with it. There was a bit of a learning curve. 🙂

Manor Home Decor is a simply smashing collection of furniture, lighting, home decor, gifts, and sweets. Chocked full of unexpected glam, and unapologetically cheeky, it is the go-to place for unique, happy online shopping. We are known for carrying gifts & decor that will put a HUGE smile on the recipient’s face. As a company, we are most proud of the friendships we have made over the years with our darling customers. It has also given us the opportunity to work with and support the most amazing local and national small businesses.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
A very, very enthusiastic YES to this!!! The city of Houston, as well as the small business community, welcomed Manor with open arms, and a glass of Prosecco. 🙂 From the very beginning, other businesses have reached out, offered to help, offered to collaborate, often when it’s of very little benefit to them. I also think we are blessed with one of the greatest fashion blogger communities in the nation. This group of girls is organized, passionate, and insanely supportive of local Houston businesses. If you are ready to start something new, Houston is the BEST place to give it a shot.
