Meet Bettyna Theodore of Fashion Take Out

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bettyna Theodore.

Hi Bettyna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Fashion Take Out actually started in New Jersey, online, from my living room — literally me, my laptop, and a vision. I’ve always been “TheeFashionPlug,” the one people came to for a look, a vibe, or that last-minute “plug me in, sis!” moment. So launching an online boutique felt like the most natural extension of who I already was.

Not long after, my husband and I decided to pack up our little family and move to South Florida for a fresh start. And honestly, that move changed everything. The second we touched down, FTO took off. I opened my first physical location in Fort Lauderdale, and it became this fun, colorful, confidence-filled space where women walked in and instantly felt seen.

Then the pandemic hit, and I had to close my doors. It was heartbreaking, but it didn’t stop me — it pushed me to evolve. I rebuilt Fashion Take Out online with even more intention and leaned into my true mission: creating a space that serves style and impact at the same time.

Today, Fashion Take Out is more than a boutique — it’s a movement. I mentor young girls and women, I collaborate with schools and creative programs, and I’ve built a brand that celebrates confidence, color, culture, and those “looks to eat the girlies right on up.”

Every pivot, every comeback, every win brought me right here. And the crazy part? I’m just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Absolutely not — but purposeful? Yes.
My journey has had some of the highest highs and some very real lows. When I first launched Fashion Take Out in New Jersey, I was balancing motherhood, business, and life all at once. Then after moving to South Florida and opening my storefront, the pandemic forced me to shut it down — literally right when momentum was building.

I also had to deal with rebuilding my brand from scratch, learning new systems, handling everything myself, and staying motivated when sales slowed or life got heavy. There were moments where I questioned everything. But every struggle sharpened me, pushed me, and made Fashion Take Out what it is today — resilient, bold, and unstoppable.

My road hasn’t been easy, but it made me a stronger mother, wife, businesswoman, and creative. And honestly, that grit shows up in my brand every single day.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Fashion Take Out is a trendy, bold, confidence-driven online boutique where fashion meets community impact. We specialize in curated looks — streetwear, luxe pieces, vacation vibes, statement sets, and those “looks to eat the girlies right on up.”

But what truly sets us apart is the experience. FTO isn’t just clothes — it’s energy. It’s personality. It’s empowerment. My customers know they’re not just buying an outfit; they’re stepping into a vibe, a moment, a main-character era.

I’m also extremely proud of the community side of Fashion Take Out. We mentor young girls and women, provide internships and externships with schools, and create opportunities for minorities and creatives who just need someone to believe in them. Fashion is my passion, but giving back is my purpose.

Fashion Take Out is for the girls who want to look good, feel good, and show up as their boldest selves — without apology. Whether it’s one piece or a whole wardrobe, we’re here to serve looks and confidence every single time.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Fort Lauderdale is the culture, the diversity, and the ambition. There’s creativity everywhere. People here hustle with intention, collaborate naturally, and genuinely want to see each other win. It’s a city filled with dreamers who actually do — and that inspires me daily.

What I like least? Honestly, like any growing city, sometimes the cost of living and the fast pace can be a lot — especially for families and small business owners trying to stay ahead. But even with those challenges, the opportunities and connections make it worth it.
