Meet Big JLD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Big JLD.

We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing music at an age of 12. I use to be in my church choir and play the trumpet in band which is why the name trumpet boi is significant to me. After my mom passed when I was 16, I didn’t think too much about music I just was thinking about other things. Years later I was working at Lowes and an old coworker of mine was telling me he had a studio at this college he was attending and I made a joke saying I do music as I never did at that time be he invited me out to create a song. After that, I instantly fell in love with music again and started to create more music and noticing how good I was at it I wanted to pursue this dream and goal of making it big time.

\Now along this process, I had my ups and downs where I took breaks and even thought about giving up. That was until I did a hype man gig for a friend of mine and it brought all that emotion and love for music again. Ever since that day I’ve been working hard to achieve my dreams working on my craft and now I’m here doing interviews.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Anything you do is never easy like I said before I had challenging moments where I quit on myself and everything mentally thinking I’m wasting my time doing this. Maybe I should do something g else with my life etc. it definitely took me a year to get out of that mindset and I’m glad I did

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a music artist I make music for a living. I’m known for my confidence and risk taking and just my work ethic when it comes to things I’m most passionate about and also my catchphrase “you on my timeline”. I’m proud of how far I came and how hard I’ve worked to set myself up for great opportunities and to continue to grow in my music. I feel what sets me apart from others is I let my talent do the talking and that I’m working 9-5 daily to achieve my goal and I’m not afraid to take risk

What does success mean to you?
I define success as something you have a goal or dream you’re working hard towards too and finally accomplishing that dream and goal. Most people think success is having the most money but that’s not why I do what I do. I do music so I can have the world hear me and listen to my story through music and able to stand in front of a million of fans and having them sing your song that’s what success for me looks like and feels like.
