Meet Blaine Cruse, Realtor Extraordinaire in West Side

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blaine Cruse.

Blaine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a serial entrepreneur that has always had an interest in real estate. I purchased a house and had a horrible experience with my Realtor. She showed up long enough to sign her name on the dotted line at the builder to make sure she got her commission and I never heard from her again. I was left twisting in the wind throughout the entire experience and didn’t have any help to guide me through the process. This was huge in me making the decision in getting my real estate license. I wanted to make sure that others, especially first time buyers, never had to go through what I did. I got my license in 2007 and started working real estate part time. It turned out that interest I had in real estate became my passion. I slowly began the process of winding down all my other businesses over the next several years and worked on building my real estate business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles in business, but you can overcome them if you are committed to do whatever it takes to build that business. When you initially start in real estate, you have to overcome the lack of awareness of your brand. There are thousands upon thousands of licensed real estate agents in the Greater Houston area, all hoping to build their business. And there are more and more entering the business every day. About 85% of real estate agents fail and get out within 2 years. I did not want to be included in that statistic.

Blaine Cruse, REALTOR Extraordinaire – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in residential real estate and giving my clients the EXTRAORDINARY service that comes standard with all my transactions. Buying and selling a house is the largest financial transactions most people will make in their lifetime. I try to make sure that the process as stress-free as possible. I attempt to convey this expectation throughout the entire process and that includes my marketing. For example, I don’t use the typical Realtor “yearbook” style photos of myself in my marketing material — I use one of me giving the thumbs up with a wide open jawed smile on my face. I also make use of all kinds of technologies to assist through the process, even if I’m just trying to find ways to keep the lines of communication open between me and my clients, Speaking of my clients, as I lead them through the process and educate them I try to use as little industry jargon as possible. It can be an overwhelming process and I try to minimize that as much as possible. I want them to be able to make the best decision they can for themselves and give them everything they need to make those decisions. Once they do, I’m there to also advocate for them and look out for their best interests.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have been fortunate enough to help several homeowners out of a bad situations by getting their homes sold quickly and for top dollar. Seeing the sense of relief on their faces as they are freed of the burden their home had become is priceless.
