Today we’d like to introduce you to Blair Upton.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a little girl, I always knew that I wanted to be a hairstylist. In 2006 I attended Franklin Beauty School. I finished school and received my cosmetology license in 2007. From there, I traveled to different military bases with a photography company. I provided hair and makeup services for family photos. I enjoyed traveling, but after my assignment in Alaska, I was ready to stay home and build my business. I have spent these years building my business and perfecting my craft, by taking classes to continue my education.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, I had to learn that every space wasn’t for me. Also as a new mother, I am learning how to navigate through motherhood and running a business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a healthy hair specialist that truly loves what I do. I enjoy being able to be a part of one’s hair journey. I love seeing the transformations and being able to teach my clients how to care for their hair and love their hair. If I feel like a hairstyle won’t work for someone because it jeopardizes the integrity of the hair I am not afraid to tell them no, because our end goal is always healthy hair.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way, is to keep going.
