Today we’d like to introduce you to The Blind Owls.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
The Blind Owls are a 4-piece Rock n’ Roll band from Corpus Christi, Texas formed in 2012.
After nearly three years spent of constant performances around Texas and festivals around the country ferociously banging out an authentic Rock n’ Roll repertoire with passion and fury each performance, 2015 saw the release of their 8 song debut EP ‘The Blind Owls Say Goodbye, followed by their 14 song debut album ‘All Day and Night’ in 2017. The Blind Owls embarked on their first tour to the West Coast in 2017 where they played six different states and performed for three weeks straight. The Blind Owls continued their momentum in 2018 where they released their second EP “Four” via Hidden Volume Records followed by a short tour to promote the EP. The Blind Owlsplan on making 2019 another successful and exciting year for the group.
Please tell us about your art.
Early in our career, we were heavily influenced by the boy bands of the early 1960’s such as The Kinks, The Zombies, The Rolling Stones, Animals, and of course The Beatles but now are starting to progress to a much more decorated sound. Still heavily influenced by the ’60s obviously but we don’t wear our influences on our sleeve as much as we feel we have found our sound now.
We started playing this type of music because my Father(Carlos, Bassist) always had Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Elvis, etc. playing in his truck wherever we would go with him. It resonated with us so much that we carried it over into our teenage years and formed a band trying to sound like what we grew up listening to.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed?
I believe so. I think major artists have a platform and are huge influences to many people who listen and follow them. I also believe with the dominance of social media taking over our lives nothing is sacred and that can either be a good or bad thing. Things can be spun around into the writers “own” story instead of the truth I’d say is one of the negative things about that situation and it can easily spread like wildfire but also at the same time is such a useful tool for lesser known bands trying to get their name out.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
We are on every major streaming services such as iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, etc.
You can buy our vinyl, CDs, or any of our albums in digital format at theBlindOwls.com as well as various merchandise from the band.
We often play around a Texas during the year. Every SXSW you may catch us in Austin performing several shows/day parties. Every summer the goal is to go out to a different part of the world where we have not performed at to share and spread the word of our music
