Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Edling.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started in July of 2016…. I was taking my wife and son to a Friday night Astro’s game at Minute Maid Park. We had just exited 59 and were looking for just the right parking area for us that didn’t cost too much but also wasn’t too far away from the stadium. I found the perfect parking lot for us, turned in, and ran my truck into a pole. I hit the pole hard enough that I was going to need my truck towed to the shop. I knew that I would call my old friend Bobby Crowell to tow my truck to Lonestar Chevrolet in Jersey Village to be repaired.
I called Bobby and he was there in about an hour ready to tow my truck and give us a ride back home if needed. We talked for a few minutes and played catch up as I hadn’t talked to him in awhile. As we were catching up Bobby told me that he had been looking at the idea of going into business for himself. He had started putting together a business plan and was trying to figure out how to make it all happen. I told Bobby that I was interested and would love to have the opportunity to review the business plan.
I spent the next few weeks reviewing the business plan I had got from Bobby. I worked through the financials and Bobby and I met up a few times to review forecasts and projections. As the finalized business plan shaped up it was apparent to me that based on the book of business Bobby had built over the years and his towing expertise he had a very viable business model. We incorporated BAM Towing & Transport in August 2016 as partners. Bobby brought the book of business and the expertise in the towing industry and I bought the seed money and business acumen.
Bobby has been invaluable and has done a terrific job of managing the field operations side of the business while I have managed the business operations. We have built a terrific team and are excited for what the future holds.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not been smooth but we would not have it any other way. We have had all the fun that comes with a startup! Along with the dealing with a startup, I was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma in March of 2016. Fortunately, I was a stage 1 with a good prognosis. I did 3 rounds of chemo between September and November and am currently cancer free. For me personally, that has been the biggest struggle. The balance of life and work is always complicated and adding cancer to the mix made things a little more interesting than it should be.

BAM Towing & Transport specializes in moving vehicles and in and around NW Houston and surrounding areas. We move vehicles for individuals, insurance companies, dealerships, body shops, auctions, motor clubs, custom shops, fleet companies, and any company that has vehicles that need to be moved between locations. We can also move equipment but our main focus is moving anything on wheels. BAM is known for doing what we say and saying what we do. Bobby has built a reputation for getting things done quickly and efficiently without issue and those are the things that we have carried into BAM.
Our motto is “Changing Perception One Tow At A Time” because most people think of tow truck drivers as dirty dishonest guys that are looking to rip off the customer. That is far from the truth for BAM and our employees and we only hire the best in the industry to carry our motto with them. Our goal is to help our customers in some of the hardest moments they will encounter like: getting in a collision, having their vehicle break down on them, having their wheels stolen, etc…
All of these instances require our employees to have compassion and be someone that our customers can trust in a time of need. If we aren’t providing that for our customers, we have failed.

The city of Houston is a great place for anyone to start a business! I believe the great State of Texas has the best people in the world. Every time things get hard for us in Houston we prove to the world that we can band together and get through. Having a business is always about people, from your customers to your employees, and with the wonderful people we have in Houston, it makes getting a business started a lot of fun.
