Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Johnson.
Brandon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m from Houston, Texas. Found a passion for basketball around the age of 5. Went to Willowridge high school while pursuing my basketball career. 2004 I signed with the University of San Diego on a full basketball scholarship. I graduated high school 2005 that summer I started my college career. Had an amazing career becoming the all-time leader scorer assist and steals leader. With a highly decorated career, I was given a chance to play at the next level with the NBA. Summer league was with the Phoenix Suns and from there Washington wizards. Due to a decision in college in 2010, I was indicted on a point-shaving scandal in 2011 landing me in Prison under federal investigation. Losing everything I worked for God has given me a platform to educate inspire and motivate others.
Has it been a smooth road?
Changing the narrative. Going to Prison having to Rebuild my life after. I was homeless last few years of high school. Being poor in college no support.

Right now, my company is built around my brand (Brandon Johnson) I am the Sports Betting Ambassador. Educating student athletes through my experience preventing them from going through what I did. What I am proud of the most is the kid’s feedback. To hear the impact it has on them after I share my testimony. It’s bigger than the case it’s inspiring a NEVERQUIT story. What sets me apart is my ability to connect to so many different backgrounds. I’ve been at the bottom and on top. Also, my case makes me unique there’s only 1% who shares my situation.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The cost I was living in California. So there’s a huge difference in a one bedroom in San Diego and Houston. The least thing is I find Houston really slow. The lifestyle and downtown isn’t really like Other major city downtown or should I say the energy.
