Meet Brandy Voorhies-McBeth of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Voorhies-McBeth.

Hi Brandy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey to creating Creole Cuvée Wines has been shaped by a lifelong appreciation for culture, connection, and the way great wine brings people together. While I’ve built a successful career of more than two decades in the chemical industry,, wine has always been a personal passion that allowed me to explore different cultures, cuisines, and traditions through travel.

Growing up with deep Louisiana Creole roots, I developed a love for cooking authentic Creole cuisine and gathering family and friends around the table. I learned early on that food and wine have a unique way of bringing people together, creating meaningful conversations and lasting memories. That passion for hospitality naturally evolved into a desire to pair exceptional wines with rich flavors and traditions that have always been part of my life .

Over the years, I visited renowned wine regions around the world, attended tastings, studied wine, and discovered that every bottle has a story to tell. I realized I wanted to create a brand that reflected my own story and celebrated my Louisiana Creole heritage while making wine feel approachable, memorable, and inclusive.

That vision became Creole Cuvée Wines- a luxury lifestyle wine brand built around the idea of celebrating culture, community and meaningful experiences. Our tagline, “Sip the Story. Savor the Culture.”, reflects everything we stand for. Today we offer a thoughtfully curated portfolio of small-lot boutique white and red wines, along with our signature handcrafted sangria, each crafted to deliver exceptional quality while celebrating the rich flavors, traditions, and hospitality that define our Creole roots.

Each wine in our collection has its own unique name and story, inspired by themes of heritage, resilience, celebration, generosity, and personal connection.

Today, Creole Cuvée is more than a wine label- it’s an invitation to experience the warmth of Creole hospitality. Through curated wine tastings, food and wine pairings, community events, and educational experiences, I hope to inspire people to slow down, gather around the table, and celebrate life’s special moments. As a women-owned minority business, I’m proud to build a brand that honors my heritage while sharing a true taste of culture with every glass.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most entrepreneurs, my journey has been incredibly rewarding, but it certainly hasn’t been without its challenges. Building a wine brand from ground up while maintaining a full-time career has required a tremendous amount of discipline, patience, and perseverance.

The wine industry is highly competitive and heavily regulated, so learning the business- from production and compliance to branding, distribution, and marketing- has been a continuous learning experience. There have also been moments where I had to navigate trademark challenges, make strategic business decisions, and build brand awareness in a crowded marketplace.

As a woman owned, minority owned business, I’ve also learned the importance of believing in my vision, even when the path wasn’t clearly defined. There are times when you have to create opportunities instead of waiting for them. Every challenge has pushed me to become a stronger entrepreneur, a better leader, and a more creative problem solver.

What had kept me moving forward is my passion for creating meaningful experiences through wine and culture. Seeing people connect over a bottle of Creole Cuvée, hearing customers share how much they enjoy our wines, and watching the brand continue to grow reminds me that every obstacle has been worth it.

I’ve come to believe that entrepreneurship isn’t about having a smooth journey– it’s about having the resilience to keep going, learn from every experience, and stay true to your purpose.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve been fortunate to build a career that blends business leadership, lifelong learning, and service to my community. For more than 20 years, I’ve worked in the chemical industry, building experience across operations and production, procurement, supply chain, and executive account management. Today, I manage strategic customer relationships, drive business growth, and develop solutions that create long-term value for customers. Throughout my career, I’ve been known for building trusted relationships, solving complex business challenges, and leading with integrity.

At the same time, I’ve spent more than two decades pursing another passion- wine. What began as a personal interest evolved into a serious commitment to wine education and hospitality. I’ve worked as a wine consultant, earned my WSET certification through Napa Valley Wine Academy, traveled extensively to explore wine regions around the world, and continued to deepen my understanding of wine, food, and culture. Those experiences ultimately inspired me to create Creole Cuvée Wines.

Beyond my professional career, I’m deeply committed to giving back. I’m proud to serve as a Board Member for Discover U, a Houston- based nonprofit dedicated to exposing students to educational and career opportunities that broaden their horizons. I’m also honored to be a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wine Garden Committee, where I help celebrate and promote wine education and community engagement. In addition, I’m passionate about mentoring youth and young professionals, encouraging career development, and supporting initiatives that empower women to grow personally and professionally.

What sets me apart is my ability to bridge worlds that don’t often intersect. I combine corporate leadership and entrepreneurship, technical expertise with creativity, and business strategy with a genuine passion for hospitality and service. Whether I’m negotiating a multimillion-dollar business agreement, hosting a curated wine experience, mentoring future leaders, or serving my community, my goal is always the same– create meaningful connections, inspire others and leave a lasting positive impact.

I’m most proud of building a life and career that reflects my values. Success to me isn’t measured only by professional achievements, but by the people you uplift, the relationships you build, and the legacy you leave behind.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve always believed that what many people call luck is often the result of preparation meeting opportunity. Throughout my life I’ve worked hard to continuously learn, build meaningful relationships, and stay open to new experiences. When opportunities have come my way, I’ve been ready to embrace them because of the work I had already put in.

That doesn’t mean the journey has been without setbacks. There have been unexpected challenges, difficult decisions, and moments when things didn’t unfold according to plan. But I’ve learned that those experiences often become the greatest teachers. Many of what I once considered disappointments ultimately redirected me toward something even better.

I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to have mentors, family, friends, colleagues and customers who believed in me, encouraged me and opened doors along the way. Their support has been an invaluable part of my journey.

Most importantly, my faith has been my foundation. I believe God had guided my path, placed the right people in my life at the right time, and given me the strength to persevere through every challenge. I don’t see success as luck alone- I see it as a combination of faith, preparation, perseverance, and purpose.

As I continue building Creole Cuvée Wines, I remain grateful for every opportunity, every lesson, every person who has been part of this journey. Each experience has shaped not only the business I’m creating, but also the woman I’ve become.
