Today we’d like to introduce you to Brendon Boyd.
Brendon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started in the insurance and financial services business working for my mother, Leorlin S. Boyd. She opened her own agency in 1999, and I started working at her company in 2007. The formation of my company, Tower Insurance & Financial Services, LLC. came about through the acquisition of her company. She retired recently and offered me the chance to continue on in the business as an agency owner. This is the type of opportunity that rarely comes along, which is why I feel extremely blessed. I get to be a 2nd generation business owner, and ideally, take my endeavors to a higher level. I’m very excited about the future.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been a bit of smooth and rough at times. The rough part was trusting the process and waiting for my “time” to come. The goal of acquiring my mother’s company has been an aspiration for many years. When you wait for an opportunity to come your way then you never know how it’ll come exactly. You never know if the time will be right, will you be ready, and will all circumstance be as ideal as possible.
The most smooth part has been the fact that I’ve been able to get a front-row seat to the mistakes and triumphs of my mother. She and my father both have experience in the industry dating back to the 1980s. They both have taught me a great deal, and I wouldn’t have gotten that same level of impartation working at any other agency.
Tower Insurance & Financial Services, LLC. – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company provides insurance and retirement solutions to individuals and small businesses. I prefer not to say we have a specialty because we do a variety of things very well. My company has staff that can help a business owner reopen for business quickly after suffering a major loss. The next moment we can help that same business owner save for retirement and actually enjoy the fruits of his/her labor.
My company also has the ability to help a widow and her children avoid financial ruin after the sudden death of her husband. The next phone call my office gets could be the opportunity to assist someone in getting compensated for the total loss of their vehicle.
The best specialty that we have is providing solutions to people and businesses! There are insurance and financial services companies that only do 1 to 2 things well, but we are in the minority due to the level & wealth of knowledge we have at our disposal.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment is always a collection of moments. It’s the joy I get when people thank me for helping them through the small and big problems. I am fortunate to work in such a noble profession and get to do things for people that can have a generational impact. I hope to have a “proud moment” maybe 30 years from now when I have a resume of work worth looking back on. Until that time, I’ll continue helping people and taking joy in it.
